+ 2 Vasectomy and cycle queries
So I’ve got the green light from the missus to get the snip, she won’t be reporting me for damaging her property!!
I want this done as soon as possible but I’m currently on cycle, I’m due to start PCT in mid/late February, I can’t see steroids interfering with the procedure but I understand there will be some down time regarding training, this is more important to me than meeting goals so I’m prepared to do whatever it takes.
I see a few possibilities but would like some advice on the best way to handle it. If I get it done on cycle, take a week or so off training, the steroids may prevent loss of muscle, then by the time I get to PCT I’m ready to give it my all again. Or I could wait until PCT, take the week or so off training while I don’t feel like training and loose a bit more than I would have without the down time, or finally, wait until after PCT and natural levels have returned.
My initial thought is the latter is going to be the suggested way, I’m prepared to cut my cycle short and start PCT sooner if that’s the way to go.
I also don’t know what the timescale will be for the procedure in UK, input from experience would be appreciated, will it be a case of telling the doctor I want it and it gets done there and then or wait 6 months for an appointment with a specialist ball chopper?

In high school my friends dad got this procedure. I remember walking through their door and he had an ice bag on balls... your welcome for the mental image. 4 days later he was back at work so imo 4 days won’t kill you regardless of what you decide but that’s really all the insight I have on the subject.
Im finishing up paper work for mine right now. Docs know im on TRT and didnt say anything about it. Going to be a good excuse for us animals to give our bodies a break for 4 or 5 days.

Thanks for the replies, seeing as a cycle doesn’t seem to effect anything I’m going to carry on as planned and get booked in as soon as possible, starting with an appointment with my GP hopefully this week, I’ll keep you posted.
I had mine done on cycle. Went back to the gym a little to early and caused swelling (epididymitis). Had to take a bit more time off to allow swelling to subside. I think you’ll be fine either way... 1 week off will do the body good...
I had mine done when Inwas on cycle but dont think it matters either way. Also, Your not going to lose any muscle from taking a week off training. Most likely youll come back stronger and more motivated especially if you havent taken any time off recently. Im sure your wife is especially happy to have someone who supports and cares so much for her. -No Homo

Keep us updated Rob, I was planning on booking the operation early next year and I’d be interested in the hearing about the journey via the Nhs as a fellow Brit.
I got mine done 3 or 4 years ago while on cycle. I took a week off of the gym (just to be safe I felt fine) but went to work the next day. They gave me like 15 pain pills and I didn’t even finish them. Didn’t effect the procedure I’m still shooting blanks, thank god I don’t need any more kids, lol.
You are in the UK, well I am across the water in Ireland so it will be similar. I priced it up a couple of weeks ago just before xmas. GP does it, but with a bit of a specialisation in vasectomies, not just GP practice. Could get it done tomorrow, walk in walk out, and he says paracetamol at a max for pain. No crazy riding for a few days, week at max. I told him about the type of lifting I do and he reckons take a week max off the heavy lifts just to stay on the safe side, but everything else is grand.
Nothing to worry about re: hormones, only upside.
Now I am not so sure when I am getting it done as my Mrs wants another baby.
Is that a private GP? My local NHS GP has a couple of doctors that can do minor surgery, I’d assume that would be mole removal and such. According to the NHS website, depending on where you live there can be a long wait, there’s also a couple of places within reasonable driving distance that do it private for £500 all in.
I’m going to try to get an appointment with my GP this week to see what the deal is going through the NHS, it’s a nightmare trying to get an appointment here though so it might take longer.
Yeah Rob, this is with a local GP practice. One lad, and he is a GP, runs his vasectomy practice there.
Just shy of €500 for the procedure and a choice of scalpel or no scalpel.
I know a lot of you lads in the UK find the NHS tough, but man, what we have here is prehistoric. I will pay for the private procedure sooner or later, when I figure out if we are gonna go again or not.
Snip will be cheaper than the cost of the amount of HCG/HMG I am gonna need to make a baby lol
I rarely have a problem with the NHS, I’ve had better results from private physio than the NHS physio but that’s the only time it hasn’t worked out for me so far.
I’m going to try the NHS route for the vasectomy but will go private if I have to wait 6 months or something, my OH is adamant she’s staying on the depo until I’m fixed, that’s the only reason I want it ASAP!

RustyhookerI had mine done off cycle. Ice pack, tight chones and chill for couple days. Imo id wait til off cycle.
Had it done. Procedure was 20 min. Drove myself home. Didn’t fill script for pain killers. Didn’t even take a Tylenol. No pain. No discomfort. Back at the gym the next day but took it easy so I didn’t raise BP too much. Back at it full force 2 days later.
