+ 3 TRT, Cruise, Blast... Let's get the argument going.

So many people are confused on the definition of TRT, Blast, and Cruise, let's see your definitions and justifications of those definitions. Let the respectful arguments unleash. TRT is just putting your body in a normal range of testosterone, nothing more or less change my mind.

Cruise. Cruise all the way. TRT is healthier but, I want to be elite. I just hope I don’t have any health issues. Once I’m older with a family I’ll TRT.
This is a very subjective topic and I think varies between person to person so I’ll share my opinions
TRT is a medically prescribed treatment overseen by a licensed professional. The goal is to restore testosterone levels to a normal or adequate range — typically around 400–1100 ng/dL for bros who are clinically deficient. Simply taking testosterone without medical evaluation or prescription does not fall under the true definition of TRT.
Blasting refers to intentionally running higher doses of testosterone (and often other compounds) for a set period of time, essentially a cycle. For some, that might mean doubling, tripling, or even more compared to their TRT dose, depending on their goals and tolerance.
Cruising is the period following a blast, where the user lowers their intake to a steady, lower dose. This cruise dose often mirrors a TRT prescription, though some choose to sit slightly above.
For example, I’ve been on medically prescribed TRT at 200 mg per week for years. When I blast, I increase the dose for a defined time frame or a cycle like most of us refer to it as. Once that phase ends, I return to my prescribed TRT dose — or occasionally run a slightly elevated “cruise” before resuming baseline TRT. So essentially I blast and cruise constantly. Furthermore those who blast may PCT to restore levels naturally, and my levels were low naturally so I just blast/cruise.
Just my 2 cents
Not sure who’s confused about this. TRT is any dose that keeps you in normal range, and is medically necessary. There are guys who are cruising on TRT level doses when they don’t medically need TRT. They just don’t want to come off because they have no plans on stopping and don’t want to deal with the misery of PCT, which is fine. But that’s still cruising in my opinion. TRT is a medically treatment for a specific medical condition and not losing your gains and feeling like shit during PCT is not said medical condition lol.
But beyond that cruising is different for everyone. The general idea is the least amount that lets you maintain your size. I knew some guys who’s cruise dose was 1000mg test ew. They were on here 10 years ago. I’m sure there’s some mass monsters on here today doing the same. I have a friend who’s a masters IFBB pro and his cruise dose 400mg ew. Some people like to add in low doses of other compounds.
So TRT is a pretty rigid framework. Cruising is not and can vary dramatically. One guys cruise dose is another’s blast.
Does your friend manage to maintain his size on 400mg per week, or does he start to lose it after a few weeks/months?
If he lost size I never noticed it. So it couldn’t have been much if he did. I never asked him though. He stays huge and shredded. To me it looked like he was always 6-8 weeks out. Paper thin skin, sunken in cheeks, hard grainy dense mature muscle from 35 years of training. He never cheats on his diet. That dude could eat boneless skinless chicken breast and brown rice all day everyday for years on end and never get sick of it. He wakes up a couple times throughout the night to eat. A level of dedication I’ve never seen up close. He’s getting up there in age now but 5ish years ago he was stepping on stage at 240 peeled at 5’9.
I see it like this, and for me there’s no mixing terms: TRT has nothing to do with Blast & Cruise. Totally different lanes.
TRT equals health and life quality, straight up. Just keeping you in a normal range so you feel and function like a man should.
Cruise IT IS NOT a TRT. It’s a “step down” from blasting … low enough to let bloods and health markers chill, but still enough to hold size and keep progressing if performance is the goal.
Blast is full send. Supraphysiological, chasing growth, strength, and aesthetics. (Performance above all else)
Point is, TRT is health… blast & cruise is performance IHMO. They shouldn’t even be in the same sentence.
X1000
Spot on
Spot on! Should really do bloodwork for both but you cannot put a "TRT" label on it without bloodwork to back up you are in normal range. You can label a "cruise" without bloodwork.
TRT is determined by bloods
CRUISE is determined by milligram
Very good definitions man. So do you base any of it off of how much they use like is 200mg not TRT? or should it all just be based off of their natural levels?
That’s the real question, brother .. it’s less about the milligrams and more about where your levels actually land.
Doctors will say TRT is just whatever dose keeps you in the “normal” range (let’s say 600–1000 ng/dl depending on guidelines). So if it takes 120mg or 200mg to put you there, both are technically TRT.
But from a health perspective, the real debate is: what’s actually optimal for you long-term?
* I don’t think that’s something we’ll know anytime soon … maybe in 50 years we’ll finally have the data. Crazy part is, guys are hopping on TRT at 25 for “health reasons” nowadays … makes you wonder where we’re all gonna be down the line.
For some guys, that’s 800–1000. For others, 1200–1500 might feel better and still be safe. The milligram number means nothing unless you know how your body responds, what your bloodwork looks like, and how you feel.
So yeah … I don’t see TRT as a fixed dose, but rather the dose required to keep you in a healthy physiological range. Cruise is different, because the intent isn’t “health first,” like in the comment before…it’s “hold size and stay in the game.”
That’s just my two cents in the end, it’s individual.
Agreed, and the ng/dl can definitely vary per person iMO and the "healthy range" is probably different for some. I've heard of guys feeling amazing at 650, and when they bumped it closer to 1000 they got side effects. My natural levels were 960 so for me 1000 would be not much more than my baseline, and running 200 plus HCG got me to 1390 and I felt great, zero negative sides, blood work was perfect.
Agreed. Not much to argue about with that one.
Ya I mean there’s no discussion past this answer right here above ^ (good breakdown). Only thing someone can argue is what doses classify as “TRT” vs “Cruising”. Too many clinics put people on 200mg and consider that “TRT” which I don’t believe it is. My cruise is 220mg-240mg depending on how I feel.
If you’re hypogonadal and 200mg puts you at or below the high end of the normal range, typically defined as less than 1000-1100 then it’s TRT. However, I’m always skeptical of people who are on 200mg ew and say they’re in range. Typically 80-120mg ew will put most people around 1000. 200mg will have most people over 1500. So I think they’re fudging their bloods pulling them many days after injection, like people taking 1 shot a week and doing bloods 6 days after injection. Or they’re self administering and running UGL test that’s underdosed, or they’re running compounding pharmacy test that many clinics push which is simply a legal UGL and is likely underdosed. 200mg of legit pharm grade test will have most people way beyond normal.
But the question is, is 1500 or 1700ng/dl test levels bad for you compared to 800? We don’t really know anything about TRT yet. The data seems to show low test is not healthy. But I don’t think we any long term data that followed guys from like their 30s-40s until they died, ideally 30-50 years later to see what that did to life expectancy and health outcomes and compare it to people who just lived out their lives with low test. For all we know all us guys on TRT are headed for disaster and early death lol. TRTs really only been popular for 10-15 years now which is obviously not long enough to know Long term effects.
We know with certain bio markers that it’s better to be at the high end of normal, or others where it’s better to be at the low end of normal, and others where it’s best to be right in the middle of the reference range. We don’t really know that with test yet. I think we do know the low end of normal isn’t ideal. But we don’t really know if it’s best to be in the middle, or high. And since we don’t know many doctors err on the side of caution and try to keep you in the middle.
That is just it as well, whats normal because it changes all the time. Men used to have higher levels of testosterone and now it's been steadily decreasing over the years. I for one was at 2900 while on cycle and I didn't have really any side effects except my hematocrit went to 53 which isn't horrible. I am currently doing self cruising which I am taking TRT levels, 125mg a week. I have blood work coming up in a week so I will see how that is going. I just can't handle the low level of Test myself, I was at 372 naturally and I felt like shit.
Ya the normal range is just based on averages for guys today. And it’s decreasing like you said. But we don’t know if being outside that is bad or not. It might be bad, or it could be totally fine to be 1500.
372 sucks. I blasted and cruised for years and then came off everything for about 6 years and it sucked. Biggest thing was zero sex drive the entire time. Never got better. My doc would check my test levels every year and they were always between 180-220. And every year he’d bug me about getting on TRT. But my wife and I were having babies so I didn’t want to chance it. We’re finally at a place where if we can’t have anymore it’s fine so I’m back on TRT and feeling better than ever. Slowly gaining back what lost lifting natty with low test for all those years.
