Thyroid Question

ad

Hi Guys, looking for advise on how to improve your thyroid function "naturally".

Want to see if anyone has experienced hypothyroidism symptoms and had high TSH and was able to reverse it.

My recent bloods

TSH - 3.44
T4 - 5.9

My temp first thing in the am is 97.2

Looking to improve before it gets any worse than this.

Any advise appreciated.

Honestly, I looked A LOT (hunderds of hours) into these things and from what I can gather people have no real chance of improving (some do temporarily but not to a sufficient amount and not for long, if it is their thyroid that is failing (which in your case it is as your TSH is quite high) -if your TSH were very low and also your T4 and T3 it could have been induced by excessive dieting. It could be that you are somewhat deficient in iodine or selenium but for most of us that is just not the case...

Things you could TRY (but don´t expect too much):
-get your vit b12 to over 1000
-check ferritin and whether that is low
-try to include iodine and selenium (if these are the issue then improvement should happen really fast)
-remove goitrogenic foods from your diet (esp. kale and broccoli)

Other than that there isn´t too much one can do.
If you end up going down the replacement route DO NOT get sold on thyroxine only replacement. You can hit me up on pm. I tried every replacement therapy under the sun and was quite systematic about it (T4, T4 + T3, NDT, NDT + T3, T3 only) so don´t hesitate if you have any questions. Also (I hope I don´t get flamed about this), don´t be scared of thyroid replacement if you need it. Thyroxine is the most prescribed medication in the EU and if replacement therapy is done well it can improve your life soooo much...I´d dare to say substantially more than TRT after low T. Also, if done well, it is quite safe and healthy and definitely a lot healthier than NOT replacing it (I like to think of inaction being also action).

Thanks for the reply brother.
My ferritin is actually low

also one thing i forgot. a low risk thing to do that should also work quite fast is to take 500mg l-tyrosine fasted in the am. it is a precursor to thyroid hormones and in many studies it caused an increase in both T4 and T3 (albeit slight, at the end of the day a dollar is a dollar).

then take some iron with some vit c on a fasted stomach for a few months. you might start twice a day for the first 2 months and then switch to once a day. many do not really absorb it well so you might get iv iron from your doc. also check b12 levels which is very important

No, I do not..why?

I think you should discuss this wit ha Doc, but Iodine rich foods and supplements may help.

I know brother, there's literally 2 endos in 50 mile radius of me. I have an appointment with one but it's not till May.

I was actually already taking a sup with iodine and tyrosine when bloods were taken.
I guess I was hoping I could do something else in the meanwhile to help it.

Hey there. I too suffer from hypo. I’ve been diagnosed with hashimotos disease. I found over the years prior to the diagnosis that otc sups(vit b, iodine, selenium) would all help a LITTLE! Since I’ve been prescribed actual medication, I’ve been feeling good last two years. I take “nature thyroid 1grain”. Half a pill eod.
Sorry man but I never really felt better until I got in real meds and took a good look at my diet. Try to eat toxin free to keep and inflammation down in body.
Just my thoughts...

Same here, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's as well. I felt "off" until I got on meds.
