+ 1 Surgeries from years of training

ad

I will be 60 next year. Have been lifting since I was 15. I've had 4 back surgeries, 2 neck surgeries, 2 shoulder replacements. And now just been diagnosed with stage 3 ckd. Each year it gets harder and harder to keep it going in the gym. Anyone else finding this also?

In regards to finding training harder and taking longer to recover from - yes I definately am mate. When I took up lifting again back when I was 34 I had all the energy in the world and recovery was pretty good still, could train 3 days in a row no issues. Now when I have a good session be it bench or deads and I am fucked for 2 days afterwards LOL Recovery definitely takes longer especially in the CNS without a doubt - just doesn't bounce back as quick as it use to. I look at the younger guys powerlifting in their 20's and think how the hell do they bench 3 times per week, deadlift and squat twice!!!! How do they even recover from that muscle wise and in the back and nervous system - because youth is on their side. I gotta admit though, the effort and stretch is worth it aside from how good it makes me feel because I NEVER see any guys round here at 45 years old carrying much muscle at all and I can still out lift most of the young kids that aren't 20 stone behemoths LMAO You are doing incredibly well to still be lifting at 59 years old especially after all those surgeries - Credit to you pal Good

Sorry to hear this mate - were you noticing your urine was foaming when you went to the toilet or did it show up in Blood tests as low eGFR?

The important thing with CKD is to diagnose the root cause of it to stop it progressing or getting any worse, otherwise it will keep getting worse until you end up needing Dialysis. Have they attributed it to Steroid use or is it long standing high blood pressure mate? I think you are UK also, so have you been honest with your Doctor about using steroids otherwise they may misdiagnose the cause of it.

Yes my urine looks like bubble bath, kidneys not filtering the protein and toxins. eGFR which is a indicator of ckd shows I'm in stage 3b. High blood pressure is an issue.

Definitely get bp under control but start 4grams of astragalus root brother.

Its the result of the smaller proteins getting through the filters in your kidneys and hitting the water like albumin, and it causes a reaction similar to when you add washing up liquid to water. You need to get on a Blood pressure tablet asap mate - I find I get the least side effects such as brain frog etc from Ramipril but you also have ARB's like Telmisartan and Losartan/Candesartan which work well at reducing internal kidney pressure but I find ARB's make me feel a little shitty - personal preference.

When you lower BP then the lower pressure of the blood keeps those proteins in the blood stream and you will notice the foaming stops pal. The worst offenders on the kidneys which will drop your eGFR due to their toxicity they exert on kidneys and the nephrons inside them are Trenbolone, E.Q, Dianabol, Anavar and Anadrol. Obv you can count Halo and MTren in there too. If you are wanting to still use gear then STAY away from Tren and EQ, use orals sparingly - they will temporarily drop your eGFR but it will rise back again after you stop them. Priority is to get your BP below 125/80mate otherwise the filters will keep widening. I've always found Test & NPP very friendly regarding eGFR drops.

Have these surgeries all come about from gym training?

Sorry to hear mate that’s rough. I guess you’ve had to change your workout routines around these injuries. Plenty of physio and rehab too?
