Just a brief rundown I injured myself playing hockey and tore my acl . Throughout the years I never stretched , my muscles became so tight almost like guitar strings of you can imagine ! After learning about stretching and certain things to develop my body what a world of difference this has made not only being more flexible but and overall greater sense of feeling about your own body ! Guys and girls I encourage you to stretch !!! You are building a lot of muscle and in order to keep your body adequate you must work on your flexibility ! Take this advice from someone who has never stretched a day in his life till 3 years ago ! Hope you guys and girls listen and hope this helps anyone in question of stretching . It's not very time consuming and is only going to benefit you in the long run !

I espically like incorporating 10 mins of heat before I go to the gym on both knees , work on my flexibility for 15 mins and incorporate the bike to properly get my legs alittle pump so I know I am properly getting a good blood flow to them and slight pump . From there I usually start my workout and after I'm done go home and ice my knees . This is particularly for leg day . Just alittle example of how I incorporate things

I think people should stretch period on aas or not that shouldn't have anything to do with it in my book and also age doesn't matter always stretch and warm up. I wish my ass would have listened and stretched when I was younger not much of a choice for me know. I also get deep tissue massage and chiropractic work done often as well a very big help for me.

Think of it like this a drag car with all that awesome horse power, they don't just start the car up cold and run it wide open down the track if so something likely going to break or fly apart they warm it up first and get it ready and dialed in. That is what we should do warm up get dialed in and go for it and as always listen to your body or your body will put you on your ass at some point.

Everyone be safe out there.

My hamstrings have a tendency to get tight easily, and if I let them it ends up hurting my knees and lower back. People forget all this stuff is connected and not stretching can seriously throw you off and create muscle imbalances. +1

good post buddy, its all functional, stretching increases that, martial arts for instance, its all stretching, each day, each week you stretch the muscles and fascia that little extra, stretching should be a part of everyday life, it very important in everything actually.

I hate to say it but it's something I should seriously consider. I'm so inflexible nowadays it's ridiculous.

I'm in the same boat. I'm thinking it's something I need to try in the privacy of my own home though. The public just doesn't need to see that...
Something about a couple hundred pounds of man and a pose called downward dog...

This is a good reminder for everyone. I learned the benefits of stretching after an injury as well. You're much less prone to injuries when you're flexible and generally get less strains and sprains as well.
It's easy to forget or to disregard. I know many top body builders and top athletes who have significant stretching routines incorporated into their daily workouts.
I need to improve and get back to doing more of this.
