Muscle Stim?
ad
Has anyone ever tried it?
I have access to it and also chiropractic adjustments
My question is just does anybody have any experience with it? Does it work ? Is it good for muscle soreness or tensions?

I should also point out that almost all at-home TENS units are junk and a waste of money.
I can tell you everything you need to know about muscle stimulation. Odds are you are experiencing some form of pain if you mention stim and chiropractic in the same sentence. There are several different forms of muscle stim (premod, interferential, high volt, and Russian stimulation) all of which are similar but vary slightly.
In your case you would probably receive interferential. This uses four electrodes that send current through the muscles in a sweeping fashion. There are two main goals with this form of treatment; pain modulation and reduction of muscle spasm. The electrical current excites the muscles to a point tht they fatigue, hence freeing them up and reducing the spasm. For pain control the current works to essentially "short circuit" the pain nerve fibers from ever reaching the brain. This is what is called The Gate Theory. Although very beneficial and recovery time CAN be decreased with use of stim, these effects are usually short lived. Muscle stimulation in itself will not cure you of any underlying problem.
Lastly, since it was brought up. Russian stimulation is the form of stim that can facilitate muscle growth. This is usually done on patients after having slight atrophy from having their arm in a cast for example.
Hope this helps!
Bruce lee used to sleep with it on his abs.
I don't think it's a very effective muscle builder, but I do believe that it is good to loosen sore muscles and get the blood flowing.
I tried it once on my weiner and didn't have as good experience as I initially thought i would.
I was given one years ago for my rehabilitation. The thing was garbage as all it did was shock me and did nothing to help build muscle.
GearofWarWell I've got plenty of experience with the TENS unit. Except I was prescribed it at home to hopefully help stimulate nerve action and repair in my left leg after triple discectomy/triple laminectomy surgery. It didn't work. The nerves never healed and all I ended up doing was shocking my left leg for hours. That unit has it's place and uses in a therapeutic setting but it's not intended for use as a massager, lol!
Guys I don't know much about it, in not in pain.
I have access to it for free, you lay down and attach electrodes to your body hooked up to a machine and then they either put hot or cold packs on top
sounds like a tens unit. a tens unit can be used many different ways, one to stimulate the nervous system at specific points of chronic pain or injury. at another level of intensity it can also stimulate muscle contraction and growth but its limited in its use for muscle growth, this use is for injuries to maintain muscle mass only. Pain realted uses work well, as pain in itself is in nerve action response. so a tens unit can effectively make the response less.
I have my own TENS unit, because of a major knee injury. They work great for injuries, manly because they help bring blood to the injured area, due to the electrodes stimulating the surrounding tissue. Besides injury, they don't have much use. They tried to market similar units as "no workout, muscle builders" but that has been disproved many times over.
Ok, first what is your problem? Do you have back pain, muscle injuries etc..
are you asking about a tens unit muscle stimulator?
Thanks. My exact question, but you beat me to it!
