Left ventricular hypertrophy
ad
Guys, a week ago my doctor found an arrhythmia on me and had me do an electrocardiogram. It seems I have left ventricular hypertrophy, which I've heard is a pretty common condition in sports practitioners (like us). Now I'm scheduled for an echocardiogram which I guess will serve to determine the severity/thickness of my hypertrophy.
I'm not scared or anything and don't plan on giving up the sport or even roids and I hope this doesn't become that kind of thread where you guys get overprotective and tell me to quit it. Instead I would like to know of your experiences with heart disease/conditions as I'm sure some of you guys have them because this is not uncommon among weight lifters.

This kinda stuff scares me.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znNbFq4R8xY <---- Bigger,Faster,Stronger -documentary/ cut scenes on heart tests. The guy whos been using AAS finds that he has a plaque buildup...
Haven't seen the video because I'm at work, but wouldn't that "plaque" be cholesterol? At least for me, that's pretty easy to control.
well if the EKG shows that your left ventricle is quite large, then you should take more aggressive action to keep your blood pressure low. here is how it works. if your blood pressure is high. the walls of your aorta begin to lose their elasticity. then your heart(specifically the left ventricle) must work harder to pump the blood at the rate the body uses oxygen. this causes enlargement of the left ventricle. after years of having high blood pressure, it is common for the aorta to burst in the thoracic or abdominal area. then you bleed out and die
dont worry, im sure you have time to address the issue ;)
Well, that's kind of good news to me because I've always had very low and stable blood pressure. Thanks!
AnonTHE HEART IS A MUSCLE----STEROIDS BUILD MUSCLE----YOU TAKE STEROIDS, YOU DIE!!!!
OK.....that was slightly dramatic.
Relax and don't worry----half of my jock friends from college seemed to have the same condition to some degree.
Thanks, that's what I meant. I'm sure I'm not the only one in this forum either.
56tooWith the attitude u have I wld venture to say you're around my age or older 50s-60s which is cool cz we all gotta die sometime right? If you're young not only wld I stop whatevers causing it but do everuthing possible to control it. See its really not that it'll kill u but the time u spend on the planet will suck big time. Im not a dr nor do I pretend to be or know the severity of the condition u mention but I have read that aas causes it. Good luck to you brother in whatever u decide to do
I'm 31. Quite recently I started having those thought of "meh, I'm gonna die anyway, why stop doing what I like". I don't know if everyone would agree but I refuse to live a life of fear.
