+ 1 Just starting out

ad

Hey yall just started my first cycle. I've worked out for many years always top out around 180lbs with a 250lbs bench at 35yrs old. Never checked body fat but minimal, full 6 pack lots of veins and just always surrounded by giants tried all sorts of stuff over the years except gear. Diet is lots of tuna, salmon, chicken, eggs and pasta when I really need carbs/weight I just can't seem to get stronger/bigger.
Routine changes with my body and what's sore muscle confusion demanded that after a few years just to get sore/feel like I was making progress. I have done everything from worked every body part twice a week to only chest back and legs once a week. Right now day 1 I'm supersetting chest and back, day 2 shoulders abs and legs, day 3 biceps and triceps, day 4 abs then repeat.
I met a guy a few years ago and did a lot of research got my first cycle together with his and this forums suggestions/help (waiting on all but the test currently).
Still a few things I would like to find but I know it's taboo to just ask so if anyone is willing I would love your help on my journey.

If your goal is to become stronger here buddy, then looking at your training routine you have laid out it looks like you are not resting/recovering enough to keep progressing and some of the muscle groups and set work you are training together is leaving you over trained and too tired/exhausted. Instead of 4 solid days training try 2 days on, then 1 rest day and repeat. I feel training chest and back together especially using supersets is simply exhausting yourself, try chest and shoulders or chest and triceps together. Train back on its own if you include things like Deadlifts and barbell rows as these are both hugely taxing on the CNS, if you don't then you could also train biceps after back as they will already be pre-exhausted and warmed up. If you want to increase your bench which it sounds like you do if you are quoting poundages, then make sure you train it twice a week - some like to train 1 heavy and 1 light session and others heavy/heavy, depends on your tolerances and what you enjoy. The more advanced you become you will have to accept the more the body needs time and rest to recover itself or you will simply end up going round in circles Good

I am going to sound like a broken record here, but Rusty is right on the money. Increase your calories and your lifts and weight will go up accordingly. It sounds like you have a solid base and some decent strength about you. Focus on dialing in your diet and taking extra time off throughout the week to recover. If you are trying to gain size, sometimes less in the gym equates to more. The same rule does not typically apply to diet when also trying to gain size, sadly.

Gotta gain some fat to get stronger, and gotta get those carbs in for an energy source. Right on!
