Is it my place?
I have a friend from work who I lift with off and on. He's no where near as dedicated as he thinks he is. He MIGHT get to the gym twice a week, and his diet is absolute shit. He still likes to talk bodybuilding with me and and I know his heart is in the right place, but his dedication is somewhere else.
One day we got on the topic of gear, I offhand mentioned to him how you can buy it online now a days. Ever since then he has been hounding me on "where he can go?" "what website?" "how to order?".
I usually just change the subject or give him a vague answer of something about "I don't remember I just saw it on Google once" I'm pretty damn sure he knows I'm on a cycle and that I'm lying to him, but I just don't think the guy deserves it.
I know that if he gets it he is he kind of guy who will end up getting an infection from improper injection technique, and will also most likely end up in the mind set that if he's on a a cycle he can slack off even more from diet and workout routine.
At this point I've tried to just steer him away from the idea of a cycle and tell him he needs to get everything else on track first, but that just seems to offend him. And I get a speech about how he goes to the gym as often as he can, and I don't realize how hard it is to eat healthy and cook for yourself "all the time!". (keep in mind he is saying this to me while I'm eating chicken, rice and veggies I brought from home)
In the end I just kinda feel like a dick, when I have the mentality that he hasn't earned it yet, but I know it's the truth.

Well it looks like some of you guys were right about him going to get it one way or another. I just got a call from him this morning asking if I knew where to get any pins, because he bought a bottle last night.
Thankfully I know the guy he bought it from and it's G2g, but he got ripped off price wise ($70/10ml 300mg).
Now I guess I just get to run damage control and make sure he runs a proper PCT.
AnonThats certainly not the worst price in the world.
You should help him out as best you can. Obviously he has gotten some gear, but doesnt have enough or any ancilliaries.
Tell him you made 2 orders online from different sites and got scammed so if he wants to save some cash avoid buying off the internet.
Yeah, but at a certain point there's only so much you can do for someone. Especially when they are always looking for the easy way out. He's watched all the movies, read all the books and magazines, yet still has the typical american mindset of "why can't I just pop a magic pill and get the results that way?" I think to him, no matter how much information you present to him, he will still view AAS as the way to get all results without any of the work.
Anonmaybe so.. pandora's box has already been opened for him. he's either gonna surf the web and get scammed or get some shit that he doesn't know how to use. damage control would be the best thing for him, or maybe he'll forget about it. tell him the feds have been stalking the web and kicking down doors even for the lower level users. maybe that'll scare him away, until he finds it on the street. i still think that, if you consider him to be a friend, it's worth a shot to give him. he very well may blow it, and will more than likely bump his head a few times before reality sinks in and he gets it right. i really believe that, psycologically, the more information poured into our brains and the more we believe that info, the more second nature things become.
so he does a cycle and then actually keeps himself from getting an infection and is able to recover from it.. but after it's all said and done and $$$$ later he looks ten pounds fattter and is sratching his head.. it won't do it for him and if he's hell bent on it then he's like 90% of the noobs out there that end up finding a way to do it and don't get it right.. you can't fix stupid. Worry about you and your girl, be a good friend and be straight up with him, if he's a real friend then you tell him straight you don't beat around the bush.. you talk to him like he's your brother.
Anonagree with this!^^^^^
Anonadding to it, there's plenty of horror stories here from guys that wound up on hrt or trt from improper cycles and recovery. that may serve towards motivating him to get it right the first time so that he still has longevity and health. from there, if he's willing to do the leg work and learn beforehand, why not give it a shot? catch22 here is that you already know he's interested and overly eager. if he doesn't get the right information, he may wind up doing it alone and really messing himself up. things to think about... that door has already been opened..
Yeah, the problem is he's not that guy who'd willing to do that work or stay on track. LOL He did a superdrol cycle a while back and was missing days, then taking double/triple does the next day thinking that would make up for it. I kept telling him that he should avoid PH's and if he insisted on doing it, to at least take it correctly.
It was after he started getting severe migraines that he listened to me and stopped the cycle about 4 weeks in. (taking a few tribulus for PCT)
not much more can be said then what these two have already.. inspiring your friend, now there's a novel idea.. so if he thinks so highly of these big name guys then show him videos of big name guys.. there are many videos where they talk about the first steps the foundation of it all remains true before anything else.. have him watch this for example.

Anonmaybe you can inspire him.. i live a busy life as well. i have to get up a couple hours early in the am to make time for the gym, otherwise i'll never get it in. i spend my sundays usually cooking food to last the week. this saves me time during the week and helps keep my diet more focused throughout the week. so, it is possible, he just needs to see that. and you're right: he needs to have his ducks in a row before he runs gear. the gains are made in the kitchen not the gym, and the gym is the stimulus, not the gear. gear just accelerates the processes that you stimulate in the gym. if he can humble himself and you can inspire him to do it right, it may work for him. if i wasn't on gear, i wouldn't hit the gym nearly as often as i do, and i sure as hell wouldn't eat the way i do. for me, i feel like i spend enough money on the gear, so i don't want it to be a waste.
^^^^x2^^^^
Took the words right out of my mouth. I'd +1 if I could. Very well put.
Also, kudos to you meowenstein. A lot of people would just tell your friend "hell yeah, jump on it, its the best thing ever!". You obviously understand the importance of diet and training, aside from the gear. Without proper guidance and tips, we wouldn't know what we know. Way to care guys. This is what it's all about.
