+ 1 Insurance and Hormone Panel w/o TRT
ad
Hey guys,
Just wanted to get advice or feedback on experiences getting a gp to call for hormone panels that will be covered by insurance. I have been paying out of pocket for private labs, but would really like to get insurance to cover as much as possible when it comes to anything medical. Being early 30's, I'm not even going to hold my breath on TRT, but would like to explore the prospect of at least getting blood work done at a discount. Thanks in advance.

RustyhookerDo you think my GP would freak out if I maxed the panel for test over 1500?
So youre another cycle all year, yolo type? Maybe wonder where the hypertension comes in at?
....there are times I would cap the results, depending on the test ordered. So this is a possibility I wanted to discuss. I am not on TRT because I cycle. I know there is nobody as smart as you, but we aren't all idiots. I can only assume you are hypertensive as well because you stress wayyy too much bro.
RustyhookerThen youre smart enough that question is redundant. Above 1500 and wondering if dr would be upset?
When I see a doctor isn't always planned far in advance. I was merely looking for input on others experience getting insurance to cover bloodwork. If I'm going to the doctor randomly and I can get $10 bloodwork, why wouldn't I - on cycle or off? Most people would praise me for getting additional bloodwork any chance I get, yet here you are attacking me for getting bloodwork.
Would you please share your personal experiences and contribute something useful instead of negging me? Perhaps how you have entered into this conversation with a GP? I'm not going to say you don't know what you're doing, but half of what I see you post doesn't contribute much and certainly isn't in the spirit of fraternity. If you wish to assist me, I will gladly take your help. Insulting me does nothing productive and is childish.
RustyhookerIf your dr runs kabs and finds high levels of meth, would he be upset? Or liver values so high that you should be in some form of care? Or maybe your triglycerides show yiu shiuld be in cardiac arrest?
Yes, if your test values are raised then its obvious its not on your prescription. It means youre using illicit schedule 3 prescription drugs made off someones home stovetop. It means you could be subject to things like heavy metal toxicity. In medical terms it can cause you to lose your insurance. If your street level drug use gets noted, you can lose insurance permanently.
So upset...theres varied levels of upset. Theres the dr upset asking why youre leading a dangerous drug induced lifestyle upset.
Or theres the upset you feel because i dont give you what you want to hear. I didnt rub your back or nibble your ear.
you will be upset if you permanently lose health insurance. Thats my jist here. The fraternaty you are mentioning is hard knocks. If your feeling child like then dad just left the room, sonny
Thank you for the input and perspective as well as possibilities I may open myself up to. That was very insightful and helpful appreciate the contribution and reality check.
RustyhookerIts not nice but is reality fair? Be safe sir
If youask for them when you’re off and you have decent insurance it shouldn’t be an issue. The doc can always give a reason to test.
While you’re on might be a bit of a different story, but they’re under $100 bucks... you should be factoring in that cost as part of your cycle.
Yes, I get the female hormone panel and pay under $100 for my private lab tests. I see my GP on occasion for various other reasons (such as for my hypertension) and wouldn't mind getting cheap bloodwork done, since I already paid my copay for office visit.
Do you think my GP would freak out if I maxed the panel for test over 1500?
So to my understanding, your doctor can only share your health info with insurance for billing purposes. I don’t believe they can just “tattle” on you, and your insurance has to be sent the info, they can’t just go in and read your shit whenever. At least to my understanding.
How your GP would react is a different story and only you know the answer to that. I’m super honest with my GP, and if you’re going to be flagging high, you should be too. Before you get the bloods, have a conversation. They’re people. Just say can I ask you something off the record, and if they say yes, spill the beans. Tell them you’re trying to be safe and responsible and go from there.
I’m very honest with my GP, but he also fucks with AAS a bit so he helps keep me safe and in line. I also review my bloods that I get outside of insurance with him. But he’ll only prescribe it like twice a year. And I only ask him when I’m not gonna flag high.
Molinin302Blood panels are what they are. Your PCP can and will approve them, insurance companie are another monster. Realistically as long as you're not scheduling appointments constantly, there won't be a red flag. Insurance is an investment, it's a for profit business. Just be reasonable, and be honest with your Dr. Best wishes bro.
I am also concerned about results startling the GP while on cycle. I have not disclosed PED use with them.
Two people you never lie to. Your doctor and your lawyer
Both are trying to help you. Both need to know everything in order to do so. Both in certain cases may be trying to save your life.
Molinin302Yeah, you're going to want to do that. He can't treat you properly if he doesn't know what you're doing. You might be surprised, he might be a fan lol
This is true. I have a new GP after changing employers and moving to a different set of in network healthcare providers. So far, she has been super cool. I am just easing into things with her, though. Thank you guys for all your feedback. Super appreciate it. I am relatively new to using gear, but have studied the Physiology, pharmacology, and pharmacokinetics for longer. The actual practice of using them with things such as disclosure to a GP and other idiosyncrasies is something I am uneducated on. Thank you for the additional guidance and sharing hour experience with me.
X2. If you can’t be honest with your GP you need a new GP. That said they can only justify so many scripts for bloods so I’d save them for your off cycle panels.
Good luck. A policy like that would be hard to find and expensive.
