I had the same thing happen to me. The best thing you can do is take a few weeks off from deadlifting heavy squats and anything that is going to put stress on your lower back. Stretching your lower back and rolling around on a foam roller will help relieve back pain as well as help you recover faster. If you gym has a reverse hyper machine use it. When you do go back to deadlifting be sure to start off light(er),then you'd normally lift.
how long did it sideline u for
From doing movements that put stress on my back (squats rows ext.) about 2 weeks from deadlifting about 4 weeks. When it come to an injury its always best to error on the side of cation and give yourself a little more time off. If you come back to soon, your only going to re-injure yourself and be sidelined longer. When it comes to deadlifting you really only what to go heavy once every three weeks. If you start doing light speed work (loading the bar with like 275-315) and just focus on getting faster (with proper form) and assistance work (straight leg deads, good mornings) your deadlift is going to go up, and your risk of injury is going to go down.
Thanks for your imput bro I will take your advise
Yeah I'm taking week off sucks cuz I'm coming up to week four n shit starting to kick in, but I'm assuming if I herinated a disc I would be in pain every step I took
sgtstedankoSit in the hot tub after, every workout. Go get yourself a sports massage! You could need some time off, brother. All kinds of little stabilizing muscles, that aren't used to being worked, if you don't do em often. I recommend mixing in balance board squats, etc. Lighter weight of course.
Anonsorry sarge, sitting in the hot tub after you have an injury is one of the WORST things you could ever do. I tore my bicep some years ago and didn't realize it, I knew it hurt but didn't even stop to think it was torn, and took a HOT shower and soaked myself and my bicep swelled up so bad my arm looked broken. I took a slight tear and flooded it with blood and ripped it to shreds.
sgtstedankoHello. I should clarify: I didn't mean, after injury. I meant after each workout. That's what I do, as well as a good massage once every month, or so. (& sports massages, as needed) OUCH, sorry to hear about that bicep grrl : (
AnonIt was a good learning experience for me .. I was young and stupid..;-) Love those sports massages.. I find that doing yoga has made me virtually invincible.. ;-)
