Skin fold is the most accurate. There r nine spots. Take these readings.
1. Pec
2. Abs
3. Bicep
4. Suprailiac
5. Quadriceps
6. Tricep
7. Subscapular
8. Kidney
9. Medial calf
Now, add the #ers from the nine spots together. Then, take TOTAL/BODYWEIGHT. Ok now take...TOTAL/BODYWEIGHT and MULTIPLY THAT # by .27 that = % bodyfat. % OF BODYFAT MULTIPLIED BY BODYWEIGHT = LBS. BODYFAT.....BODYWEIGHT MINUS LBS.BODYFAT = LBS OF LBM.
calipers really depend on how much water your skin is holidng - more water = thicker skin fold = higher "bf %"
Calipers are useful, are not always accurate to your actual level of bodyfat, but they are consistent. So if you get a 10mm skin fold on your abs and it goes down to 8mm you know you have lost fat - use calipers for trends.
you can go with BodPod exam to get bf% tested or hydrostatic weighing for more accuracy
bodybuilder.com has calipers from 4$ to 25$
I'm sure the original poster has been waiting around for a year for this answer, thank you for the strong bump.
Also it appears this, "bodybuilder.com" you speak of does not in fact actually sell calipers.
AnonGo, to the Vitamin shop, gnc.. or online. It is called digital body mass caliper.
I have the warrior brand. I don't see how the scale would work accurately as you have to pinch certain areas.Thigh, arm ,abdomen -then it tells you how to calcutate from there. ☺
I went to the a sports doctor the other day and had an evaluation and had them do it there, much easier then going out and buying a caliber and they know the right spots to do it in
AnonI use this for the past 8 years and everytime i had measured by bf with callipers i get similar results -+1%.

Use the tape measurement method
You can use calipers or get a scale (expensive kind over $200; cheap ones don't work) that will analyze your muscle, bone, water, fat, visceral fat, BMI, and RMR.
This might help, but you need to get measured by your Dr for more accurate idea.

Northern Gearthis should point you in the right direction for now, otherwise, you would need to ask your physician to measure it, unless you know how to yourself, which i am assuming you donot via this post.
