I'm in for hip resurfacing this Fri 2/14/14. Bone on bone in my left hip for a few years now - ruined from 2 decades of basketball.

Just wondering does anyone else cycle here with any metal implants in their body? I have been told that infection of any sort for the rest of my life is a BIG DEAL with implants - anything in the bloodstream that causes an infection could cause a localized infection to the implant. An infection is NOT a small deal. The device usually does not survive and 6 weeks of anti-biotics, removal of the implant, 8 weeks recovery and another re-implant procedure follows. YUCK.
