HDL

Lipids took a hit last cycle. Back to TRT at 80mg per week. Any recommendations for helping recover HDL’s?

I’ve always thought aerobic exercise is the way to raise HDL.

I suggest policosanol. It is as effective as statins and it is mandatory to take coq10 with it because statins or in this case a supplement that has an effect like statins reduce the level of coenzymes in the body.

What did you run?

350 test, 225 NPP and 450 primo for 8 weeks. I jumped the gun and went too early with it. Wasn’t totally recovered from the last one. HDL dropped under 30. Wanted to go 12 weeks but bloods said I should back off. I’d like to get the HDL back above 50 as quick as possible.

Fish oil for trigs, and total cholesterol. Looking into adding beta sitosterol, berberine, Arjuna bark and nattokinase. Studies out there saying nattokinase is just as good as a statin.

Is your normal HDL, not on cycle, above 50? If so, then just keep eating healthy and add in some quality fish oil with high mg content of EPA/DHA. Not just ones that have grams of “fish oil” then only like 100mg of those two important ones. It’ll bounce back quickly once your hormones reach homeostasis at the trt dose.

Thanks. I have a good fish oil I take. I worked my ass off to get HDL from 39 to mid 50’s a number of years ago. HDL is so important to overall health. Going to take at least 6 months to get things back in order. Really bummed as I was starting to see some benefits the last three weeks.

Well if you worked your ass off to get from 39 to mid 50s then you absolutely can do it again. And things are always easy the second time around.
New studies have shown it’s not absolute HDL or even LDL that is the true indicator to heart health. It’s your HDL:triglycerides ratio that is the true indicator.

Respect for making the hard, but smart, choice to cut the cycle short because bloods concerned you. Most would truck through and rationalize it with “oh it’s only a short while and then I’ll get it back to healthy levels when I’m done”

Tough decision to stop early but it’s my fault for starting too soon. I feel absolutely great so that makes it even tougher. Drexyl’s post kind of helped make the decision. Very timely.
