Fasted workouts????
Right now I'm coming off of a shoulder injury, I've put on little extra weight so I've decided to kill two birds with one stone. I warm up my shoulder on the elliptical and get some cardio in at the same time. I've never done cardio in the past but this time I've decided to give fasted cardio a try. The question I have to the people that do the fasted cardio is...do you eat and then workout or just workout right away without eating after the cardio session? Right now I'm off cycle 5'10'' 213 12% I've never had to do cardio in the past, but I'm curious to see the level of conditioning it will bring. I'm trying to keep size and just lean up. What should I do?

i love fasted cardio when cutting. i try and have my last meal 12 hours before my fasted AM cardio session so it is exclusively fat being burned instead of the calories i consumed. i also employ fasted cardio for spot reduction of stubborn fat deposits - my love handles and ab area. yes, this does work greatly especially when employing proper protocol. let me know if this interests any of you and i can go into more depth
since you say you are off cycle i would suggest using bcaas pre and intra cardio to avoid catabolism - especially since keeping your muscle is important to you.
cardio is all well and good but try and keep in mind that diet is king - always. you can't burn off that fat if youre eating too many calories. so keep a close eye on your kcal intake for guaranteed success !
Fasting goes hand in hand with lifting, for sure (look up the e-book "Eat Stop Eat") but I don't know about running/jogging while fasted. Sure, you'll use stored up fatty acids in your adipose tissue for use as fuel in your skeletal and cardiac muscle (aka- you'll burn fat instead of glycogen) but I don't know if you get the added benefits of muscle repair that fasting helps with.
In the end, it's still about goals. If you wanna bulk up, eat a shit ton. Wanna drop body fat? Eat less, move more. Simple as hell, but not easy. Fasting is the simplest way to eat less.
I wish you well with your adventure, and keep us posted in your own experiences!
I do fasted cardio every morning no food before hand just bcaas intra workout. Sometimes I lift after but it always depends how I feel afte the cardio. I drink a shake immediately after and have my first real meal an hour later. I also use an eca stack it seems to be melting the fat off. I have more energy in the morning fasted too for cardio could be placebo but it helps. I mostly workout in the afternoon but like I said if I have extra energy I will lift directly after cardio. If I do, then my meal after will be a bit heavier.
