What would be more informative and widely available is HLA (human leukocyte antigen) haplotype testing. Our white blood cells have surface receptors upon them that are characterized and arranged as groups- the most common are two three-group sets known as A, B, and C, and DP, DQ, and DR. To keep it simple these are inherited in specific forms (ie DQ-8 for example) and play a role within the immune system for self-recognition (so your immune cells don't attack your own cells) and for modulating immune/ inflammatory responses. When you hear of someone "matching" for a bone marrow or other transplant they are talking about these antigens. Its not intended in a genealogic interrogation application per se, but certain inheritance patterns/trends of ethnic groups are characterized. See the link below for an example. Some larger academic medical centers recruit volunteers for HLA typing in the hopes of finding rarer patterns to match people in need of transplants- ie they cover the testing costs if you pledge to donate stem cells if you're a match.

The other advantage (or negative if you dont want to know) is that specific HLA alleles are associated with certain diseases such as diabetes, crohns disease, etc so it can be informative to know your allele pattern for knowledge of predisposition for certain conditions you may have, get or pass on.

i looked into doing lineage DNA testing and following the midochondrial also. my sister did it, but i dont talk to her, this new stuff is crazy, they can even tell you if your european and carry neandertal DNA or other. believe it or not only those of true european decent carry it, but those that do have about 3% neandertal dna or other, theyve recently learned that modern humans carry dna from at least 3 or even 4 other non human hominids.

DNA is very broad , If a test can tell u everything, I would be very impressed
