Deloads

ad

I always see people talking about doing a deload week or 2 weeks. Maybe even taking a week off every few months and being stronger when they start back up. I definitely understand letting yourself heal, but it is so hard to go to the gym and not just bang out big weights lol. What's your guys view on this. I train 6 days a week and take off God's day.... Because the daycare is closed at the gym. Definitely not comfortable taking a week off, even if hitting cardio everyday. Would feel useless.

You don’t necessarily need a deload, atleast not on any set schedule. This is highly individual. Some people need a week every 3 months. Others every 6. Some never. Or a vacation or something becomes their couple breaks each year. You’ll know if you need one. If you continue to progress each week in the gym you don’t need a deload or rest week. But if for a couple weeks straight the same weights are getting heavier, you’re going backwards etc, then your CNS is burned out and you need a rest.

Every once in a while, maybe twice a year I need one. I don’t do a deload, I take a week off from lifting. I keep eating, rest alot and continue with my morning cardio and that’s it. Come back feeling better and stronger.

How often do you do it?
