+ 15 Cholesterol-Bro Science
I went to the Dr's office in January and all my blood results were spot on except my cholesterol level. I was at 275 with LDL:238 and HDL:10. Needless to say my Dr wanted to put my on statins. I declined the offer from my Dr and told him to give me 6 weeks to get my shit together. After many hours of research from posts regarding cholesterol on eroids I started on my 6 week journey to right the ship. Below is what I have been taking and what I will continue to take based off of what other guys on the forum have recommended.
Salmon/Sardines 1x per day
Avocado every other day or so
Red Yeast Rice-4 Capsules a day-Natures Bounty
CoQ10-Doctor’s Best
Omega 3 Fish Oil-Triple Strength-Dr. Tobias 2 soft gels per day
Digest Aid-Dr Natura (Digestive Enzymes)
Policosonanol-double strength, NOW brand, with Artichoke and Milk Thistle
Taurine-1000 mg @ 2X per day
L-Arginine 500 mg @ 2X per day
Nutrim-Oat B-Glucans Optimized Oat Bran Powder @ 2X per day
Platinum Hydro Whey Protein (significantly lower cholesterol than the other protein I was taking) There is a study that shows 60 grams of whey protein per day had lowered cholesterol in patients.
I have stopped eating red meat, bacon, sausage, eggs (whites now only),
My results came back today after being on a revised supplement and nutrition plan. Total cholesterol is now 130 (vs 275 6 weeks ago). LDL 86, HDL 29. The HDL number is 3x better than what it was 6 weeks ago and my goal is to get it above 40 and into the normal range next time I do blood work.
I also must add that I have been running 3.5 miles a day 5-6x per week along with lifting weights 45 minutes a day 5x a week so I am sure this had something to do with getting my cholesterol in check also.
I want to say thank you to all of the guys that have put out recommendations in the past on what has worked for them. I can now sleep knowing my cholesterol levels aren't going to give me a heart attack.

That's a great effort to combat cholesterol, good it works for you. Although your total cholesterol dropped, but you have to truly focus on bring up the good cholesterol HDL and lower the bad cholesterol.
You may want to consider searching for natural products that could help increase the good cholesterol and lower the bad cholesterol, example would be this: https://www.healthywale.com/best-natural-product-for-high-chole.
All the best !
Dude... it’s 2018. We’re better than this now!
In all seriousness, nice work. That’s great progress. I do wonder how much dietary cholesterol plays a factor in our actual cholesterol numbers, but better safe than sorry I suppose. +
RustyhookerTestosterone is a cholesterol. And without the healthy cholesterol, conversions cant take place. Kinda goes back to wider variety of foods and be vigilant with your bloods/primary dr.
Truth
Wow! This really is some good information you have there. I was struggling with my cholesterol in the past myself, so keep it up, bro!" Good job. You could also look into something like Berberine (https://liftmode.com/blog/what-is-berberine/) as it is known to promote a healthy lifestyle and has a good effect on your cholesterine levels and is used by many people for that purpose.
Great info and just what I have been looking for!
Truly fantastic results. I am SO glad to hear that you were able to take things into your own hands and remedy the situation without using prescription drugs. I find myself in an almost identical situation and will hope to have resuilts as good as yours.
RustyhookerBump. Many folks lately with questions
You may also add rice bran oil and chocolate to your supplementation.Real chocolate taken in a capsule not a bar loaded with coco butter and sugar.
I know the following does not apply to you, Wildman99, but I say the following as a heads-up on taking too much fish oil. Apparently more than 3 grams a day can prevent the blood from clotting leading to strokes, nose bleeds, and even a weakened immune system.
I thought strokes were caused by blood clotting?
It also can happen when blood vessels rupture, and the blood fails to clot the tear closed. The bloods then pools in the brain causing the stroke, not to mention the lack of oxygen delivery.
Shit!!!!
Not good
I've looked into the claim on 3 grams or more being dangerous for clotting and I came up with an equally interesting study published in the New England Journal of Medicine that says there was no link to cardiovascular incidents and doses of n-3 fatty acids.

Does anyone have a link to the study that points to 3 or more being bad? I'd like to read it if its available, I can't find it on PubMed either.
RustyhookerStickie... could be great reference material
Nice experiment. Glad to see it is working out for you.

Your hyphenation has me a little confused. Do you mean "cholesterol bro! It's science?" Or "cholesterol. Bro-science?"
Regardlesss, +2 for the bloods and taking matters into your own hands with your diet. Diet really is everything. I did a similar thing when my cholesterol was up and had similar results. My doctor actually said to just to make a few changes, which was solid advice. Best of luck.
Wildman, did he check your LDL particle size?
I don't believe he did check the particle size. I don't see it anywhere on the report I received.
Okay, do a little research into LDL particle sizes rather than taking my word for it...
essentially there are 2; large and small
small ldl is bad, whereas large is good
so high LDL numbers in themselves are not a reason to prescribe statins. you need to know the particle size. For example, those on a keto diet may experience a rise in LDL chol, but when the particle size is checked out it will be large, which is a great result
Moving to put you on statins without checking particle size is arguably malpractice
Nice mate!
Just going to add 2 things for you to take a look at...
Krill oil instead of fish oil
Garlic oil capsules.
Both extremely effective
Well done and much respect for not just accepting the doctors decision to put you on Meds+1
Thanks for the advice. I will check them out.
I take both. I like the combo.
I read once that if taken daily say 3/4grams a day for a long period of time a build up of Mercury and other added vitamins can have a really negative/toxic effect on the body.....when I have time I'll diget up the study for you buddy.
Krill oil has something added to it so it acts like a statin but without the possibility of sides;)
I'd like to read it. That's part of the reason I take both, so I'm taking less fish oil. Also everything I take does say it's tested for mercury. Even so, I like to be in the safe side and get the best of what I take.

Sorry guys if this doesn't work I apologise and I give up lol.
I was trying to find one of the studys on the link between fish oil and mercury poisoning.I've managed to find one of them I read.
Not much of a concer if you follow the recommended daily dosage of your fish oil but we tend not to do that as we take more to help prevent the negative effects on cholesterol due to steroid use and to help with the joints for some of the older guys ;)
Hope it helps.....and works lol
Way too much...
...paraphrase and post a link instead.
Sorry guy's......I'll try that again, thanks Greg
You may need to re-read the rules on not copying and pasting articles, especially advertising.
I'm well aware of the rules buddy. That should of just came up as a link......not sure what happened
Edit: that's not even the link I selected???
Tracking. I thought it was weird someone at your level would have posted something that way. Peace.
Good catch buddy thanks ;)
No problem. I was reading and then I realized I was still reading. I use fish oil, but I am going to add the Slo-niacin. I saw on NCBI were a study showed it increased HDL by about 10%. Every bit helps.
I ordered the Slo-Niacin also to add to the mix. I need to get my HDL number up a bit more.
RustyhookerMight post proper link. Contact mod for cleanup.
Cheers buddy....I'll try again ;)
That's awesome! Taking a proactive approach and now you are reaping the rewards. As mentioned below niacin can help increase hdl and lower ldl. I like the slo niacin brand. Be cautious if you take orals or painkillers like Tylenol or ibuprofen as it can be hepatotoxic. Here's a little info to get you started.

NotNatural23https://www.napsgear.org/jm_blog_news.php?id=787
I thought this was pretty good.
NotNatural23Niacin is awesome for cholesterol. But it has to be the kind that makes you Flush. Flush Free does not have the same affects. My cholesterol fluctuates depending what I am on and what I take. Var kills my hdl as soon as I went off went back to normal. Food sources also doesn't raise your cholesterol it is a myth. I have link I will post that I thought was pretty good on cholesterol.
Food sources can directly impact lipids. I wouldn't buy into food sources don't effect cholesterol. I will say that on a very low calorie diet of bad fats, sugars and other crap seems to have far less impact on lipids. Compared to a very high calorie diet where food sources will greatly impact lipids.
Also different types of AAS can have significantly different negative impact on cholesterol and even with good food sources and a strict regimen of supplements it is not enough for some to counter act the negative sides from the aas. This is why safe and short term use is advocated when running aas.
awesome job.
niacin can help raise the HDL. it also helps with LDL to an extent. dont get the no flush stuff, it doesnt have the same effect. make sure you take it with food it can help reduce the flushing.
Just out of curiosity; with the shift in your diet, would you say your fiber intake increased?
I always take Colonix before bed so my fiber intake has always been pretty decent. I just checked my fitbit and it looks like I average 25 grams of fiber per day.
That's pretty good. Are you on any gear? Its one thing getting your cholesterol levels in check off gear, on cycle is a whole different story.
I am taking 175-200 mg test cyp (trt) plus 125 mg deca for my shoulder pain. Surgery is coming up this summer so the Deca is just to get me by without having to take Cortisone shots and pain killers. It allows me to lift light weights and more reps without the severe pain.
oh ok, my cholesterol has been in the gutter so ill give all that a shot, thanks
Your Dr is going to think that you are fucking with him.
Good Job,............keep it up.
