My really close friend crashed his bike on Sunday and he broke his back and dislocated his shoulder.
Doctor said there is a slim chance he will walk again. They put a plate and two rods in his mid back.
I'm wondering what to do for him? He was on cycle and I'm not sure what to tell his doctors. I'm sure I should wait until he's out of the ICU and at rehab in a week or so. But I'd hate to see his levels tank and further his depression and slow his healing.
I ordered him some GH. And I was reading through Muta's injury thread for some ideas.
I'm used to being the guy who can fix things and I'm at a total loss here.
Any suggestions on what I can do to help?

AnonI'll try and dig up info, but I remember Dr Sanje Gupta discussing new treatments for people with spinal injuries. It involved taking them scuba diving. They didnt yet know if it was the nitrogen in the blood or the pressure but there was deffinite nerve repair taking place. I wonder if a hyperbaric chamber would do anything.
Honestly I think the best thing you can do now is give support, sometimes we get so wrapped up in trying to "fix things " that we dont end up helping at all . I know this I fix things for a living and it took me a while to learn some things I couldnt fix, and my trying only made it worse.

BigBmajI was just going to post about that. It's hard for me to just be supportive - the way I care is by trying to fix the problem.
It gives me a feeling of being somewhat in control to try and fix.
I can only imagine specialists would already be considering using GH. If Bush hadn't put American medical care back to the stone-age by banning stem cell research your friend would have a much better future.
I'm typing sloppy now because I can't feel my right arm. four hours ago was about to get a IA injection, had just finished telling my Dr that I was using HGH for the sole reason of healing my elbow. (and to not put it in any notes the insurance pricks had access to) When he was about to start the procedure I asked the Dr to use my HGH, he didn't think twice about adding it to the mix, right in the middle of the joint and in surrounding tissue. I had told two previous doctors - the first one who was an elbow specialist got squirmy, (american medical system trash doctor, working to scam insurance for as much as he could milk it) the second doctor was a nerve specialist and she didn't believe there was enough research to.......blah...blah.... the third doctor specialized in regenerative medicine and told me I was doing exactly what he would be doing if I were him.
I'm not a doctor, and I don't play one on tv... or on forums... but your friend might benefit from a regenerative medicine team.
Considering how serious the situation is, I don't see why the doctors would give a f about him being an AAS user. They should be interested in helping him, and maybe even keeping it hush-hush from insurance slime.

Sorry to hear that BB. How old is he? I certainly am not gonna advise someone in his position to use test or HGH since I am not a neurologist or neurosurgeon. Having said that, and with me working in the medical field, they would damn sure have to prove to me that taking testosterone in TRT dosages and pharma HGH would be a bad idea before I would not do it!
Don't add anything right now. He will have to deal with the test levels etc later. If they have to go back in you don't want to be playing doctor as knowing everything he is on is imperative to them treating him with the best care.
BigBmajYeah those were my thoughts exactly. Should I have him mention to the doctor he was on cycle? Or isn't that even important at this point? I just don't want him to be more fucked up than he already is.
Does he have an insurance carrier? Honestly at this point if he got through surgery I would say anything. That is the crucial time do to bleeding and most of all for the anesthesiologist to know. They calculate all those things into their treatment. But since that is done they won't do anything most likely other than put it in his chart. And give him an ass chewing for using illicit hormones.
