+ 1 breaking down the esters

ad

I am still learning a lot about steroids, but I have a question maybe someone can shed some light on.

The different esters of steroids slow down the absorption of the drug by temporarily reducing its bio-availability. Certain esters like Cypionate slow it down at a certain pace until the body can break down that particular ester.

The question I have is, wouldnt the body adapt and increase its ability to break down those esters? We adapt to lots of things. So a person brand new to Test Cyp should break down Test C at a certain rate, but if they were to use it for a period of time would the body get better at breaking down the esters thus releasing it faster?

I realized I broke the rules, so I removing the link. As Greg said high metabolism may affect half life.

No, esters are not like building up a tolerance for a drug. An ester is a chain composed primarily of carbon and hydrogen atoms, they make the drug less water soluble so they take longer to be absorbed.

Think of it like hard candy and a mint. The mint is more water soluble and dissolves rather quickly. That would be akin to a short ester. A jaw breaker dissolves slowly -akin to a long ester. You might try sucking harder on your candies but for the most part they will still dissolve at the same rate.

Your metabolism might be able to break down an ester faster (or slower) than the next guy but by and large, that rate will be relatively the same for everyone. I.e. a short ester Propionate has an average half life of 2 days while Enanthate, a long ester, has an average half life of 10 days

I assumed the liver broke them down chemically through the use of enzymes, I didnt realize it had to do with how the esters dissolve aqueously.
