Blood work questions! (Kidneys)

ad

I dragged my ass through 3hrs of waiting in line to see a doc today, they took my urine and it came back clean, no protein, blood cells etc (I have foamy pee hence the query)
Doc wrote the referral for a blood and further urine test for:
Albumin/Creatinine ratio
Sodium
Potassium
Creatinine/eGFR

Now here's the kicker, I said okay I'm supplementing with creatine, I train heavily among other factors that will skew results. She told me not to change anything, dont skip the gym or anything.
Isn't that gonna make my results look worse on paper than the reality of the function of my kidneys?

I know it’s harder in Canada but in the future see if she’ll order cystatin-c. Removes those variables and gives accurate kidney readings.

Beggars and choosers and all... I waited years to get a family doctor, he was a prick but he would give me whatever testing I wanted and needed. Less than a year later he moved away and it will be legit years before I get to the top of the list and get another doctor. Lovely communist Healthcare we got.

Yes! You are the reason why I went and ordered a cystatin-c after I had blood work done.

In short - YES it will.

I have had this discussion before with a nurse at my Doctors, and she said that they like to get a reading of what your body/liver/kidneys look like during your normal daily routine rather than if you are 'resting' so to speak. But basically the truth is they really don't know how bad taking creatine can actually make your eGFR 'appear' to be and some of them think going to the gym is doing the same things as what they do - they do not see the Big heavy exercises like Deads and Squats which can make readings look horrendous. I remember when I went and gave bloods about 3 hours after a Deadlift session and my creatine kinase was soooo bad they thought I may be in bloody kidney failure!!! I had to go back and give bloods 3 days later and sure enough it was fine again!!

Tbh though pal I wouldn't worry as if the piss test was clean and there is no protein in there then its likely your eGFR will be fine. No protein in urine generally means kidney filtration is fine so the eGFR will be high. Problems can show up when they do the ratio tests and if your Albumin was in range on your liver test you will be okay.

Thanks press! Thats what I thought!
Ill take a few days off before the blood draw.
Creatine takes 3-4 weeks to clear i learned recently. So Im just going to leave it in as opposed to delaying the blood draw for that long.

Did you get that from my recent creatine post bro??!! Lmao Wink

Yeah exactly - when I get a shit reading it sticks in my head and I worry about it till next time, so I'd rather see good ones lol

Oh! It totally was your post from last week Blum 3
Didn't realize that...
Did we ever find out what the average size of a milkshakes dong is?

It ended up being pure speculation in the end mate as Milky got too shy to confess - I reckon 3mm on a good day. @Milfpounder has been a little scarce recently, could be that time of the month where he bleeds raspberry milkshake everywhere.

Dude its canada, im surprised they didn't offer to euthanize me while I was there... well actually no they wouldn't, because that would be too merciful
Now I have to wait in another 3hr line to get blood drawn at a separate place, because a private blood lab somehow has a monopoly on blood work outside of a hospital - and get this, they don't take appointments, you have to spend all day in que for a chance to get labs.
