+ 1 big problem, high strength, pain

ad

I'd like some input from you guys on this. My strength is going through the roof, but with it is another big issue. Bone pain. Tendon pain. What are you guys using to combat this besides npp or deca? just as i can lift more and am leaning out the pain began. what can I take or even do to combat this?

woodsman's picture

Recently added collagen types I and II.
Seems to help w/ joint pain more than the osteo biflex msm.

I see below the word 1RM............ how many fkn times do i have to state Bodybuilders do not train like this.

Regarding your pains............. its natural when you start to lean out, nobody can get away from it... its all about fluid levels in Bursa sacs............. welcome to lean world lmao!

IrishMack's picture

I don't like it! There always has to be a tradeoff it seems. I like doing 1RM's soI can see if what I'm doing as far as building strength is working. I may not be big on muscle but i'm one strong little fucker and have thick muscles. Just in case I have to push a very big girl off me that weighs a few stone at the club where I bounce hehe

Had the same problem. Like everybody says, I switched to Dumbbells and concentrated on the contraction instead of the weight for a bit. I quite incline press for a while and in particular incline flys. Turmeric and vitamin C helps with any tendon inflammation. Msm helps with the pain. Omega 3 too for good measure.

You are right and I need to get back on the Tumeric right now. Already been banging a couple thousand Vitamin C for awhile. And as far as 1RM , if I can't rep it at least five times now, it is too heavy. What good will all of this be if we seriously injure ourselves?

Gsxr1000spanker's picture

Never, ever done 1rm. Literally no idea what mine is in anything. I just want to grow muscle. Bring the pump!

Yea I learned the hard way and ruptured my distal tendon. Ouch and it put me out of the game for a few months. I know it feels great to lift more than ever before but try slowing down and easing into heavier lifts.

IrishMack's picture

I found the problem out quickly on Monday. I came back from taking 3 days off from the gym and got with the guys I train with. I was late to the party so I had to hurry up and bang out my bench to move to the next exercise. I warmed up with 225 and did slow reps and concentrated on the negative for 1 set; then went up to 320 for 4 sets of 8. I felt real good and did a 1RM at 410. No pain so far. We did inclines, butterflys, dips e.t.c and everything was great...until I did an exercise my friend showed us a week before. After 2 sets the stabbing fkn pain showed up. I told him I am done doing it because of what it was doing to my shoulders. it's hard to describe but its like doing a dip except you are much closer to your body. Even when I tried to use my chest my shoulders kept taking over and warning me I was about to pop my delts out. So after that every exercise I did I warmed up 1st then went to the heavy side and had no issues. Thanks everyone for the help and I finally found the bitch responsible for my pain.

Make sure you are not overusing aromatase inhibitors. Low estrogen levels may cause joint pain.

Roid Noid's picture

Drop your weight and bang out some reps instead.

IrishMack's picture

I'm doing that this week, it was time i.took.abreak from killing myself for a change

kodiakGRRL's picture

the pain is a result of getting too big too strong too fast... your body has to catch up the muscle growth.. change up your training go lighter with mid to high range reps with very little rest. you can try deca or npp but those just mask things.. therapuetic doses are taken over a long period of time and no so much for "cycling" purposes. I deal with this at least twice a year and it just means that you need to back it off .. use ice as needed.. try not to use nsaids as they interfere with muscle recovery

jm99's picture

The reality is that when you get much stronger over a short period of time there isn't much you can do to avoid pain and injuries. Adding Deca or Npp might mask the pain, but its still likely you'll pick up an injury if you keep going heavier, and even joint supplements and the like, while helpful, aren't going to be able to compensate for the fact that your muscles and strength levels are increasing faster than your joints and tendons The only real solution to this that I've found is try and increase the reps at a lighter (although still heavy) weight, rather than adding more weight to the bar, and this method will still increase your strength but avoid putting too much of a load on your joints. I was in largely the same position, and really while stretching and foam rolling were helpful with recovery from any minor injuries that occurred with heavy lifting, in terms of preventative methods, there's nothing that will allow your joints and tendons to catch up with your muscles other than time.

Pillow between knees whilst sleeping on the side.

[post did not drop down under addressed comment, will have to read down to get context]

Same here, once hot and fatigued a bit it feels ok for up to 4-5 hrs, then comes the pain again, that's when I push against the basketball.

I'm doing fwd and reverse overhead lifts on the bench press machine
but it's low weight and fatigue comes quickly, often it's just the one 15 lb plate on the machine.
Then hot tub.

woodsman's picture

"thats where most of my pain is, from incline benchpresses."

Same here.

My pain is in the back, between the shoulder blades, interesting yours hurts in front.
+my stabilizers are weak also,I use the Smith, hoping building the major muscle groups help the stabilizer muscles to grow- quicker than addressing them via low weight high rep bench press rows.

Also,I'm doing npp and nandro with var,it helps a bit + osteo biflex.
Fish oils,cissus,ect..

Been doing cable pull downs+ side pulls on circuit
every time at the gym,it is #1 priority.

Also, pushing against a rubber ball whilst lying in the bed, some foam roller work, basketball works well also.

Fr sent,I would like to be kept in the loop on what you figure out.

Like Pale said down below, I avoid the smith machine completely. I have had 2 shoulder injuries that kept me from lifting in the past 18 months, one was impingement (stopped doing upright rows), and the other was a partial tear and bicep tendinitis. Ever since then I no longer use barbells for chest or shoulders, it's always dumbbells for me. The pain comes and goes but it's no where Near as bad, and doesn't last more then a day...

levelup's picture

this may sound obvious but concentrate harder on the muscle contraction rather than the movement. yea you can push the weight but the concentration should be on maximum muscle damage which only comes from maximum stimulation. shoulders shouldnt hurt bad from incline presses unless you happen to have an injury that flares up with any pressing movement. also try staying on the bottom half of the movement for presses...the top half is mostly tricep anyways and usually where people roll their shoulders out of the lift causing injury.

the pain is right in between my collarbone and where my chest muscle connects to my front shoulder. its not the chest muscle, I press on the bone in tje front and yelp in pain like sissy girl.

sore to the touch is not a good thing...you had it checked out?

not yet but if it doesnt get better by this weekend im off to the doctor, I'm not going to play around and play guessing games.

Are ypu taking all the nezsasry fish oil flax msm condrotian?
I highly suggest animal flex easy to take, great brand also.

IrishMack's picture

absolutely, fish oil, omega 3 and 6. Also turmeric.

Catalyst's picture

For me it's different, it's reps not weight that cause me more pain in my shoulder. Pressing 100kgs x8 is less painful than 50kg x25. Reality is we aren't getting any younger and you've got to work around these sort of injuries rather than trying to ram them head on.

IrishMack's picture

indeed, its what reminds me how old I'm getting. I have to figure something out because I refuse to give up

juiceball8082's picture

Try tb 500?

Pale's picture

Pain sucks. I am a month or so out from being able to cycle back on again and brother my left shoulder is pissed right now. It seems like every time late in PCT I have one shoulder (rotator) or the other in great pain until I get back on cycle and it disappears. Injured my hip this PCT as well but that seems to be slowly improving. I was able to squat for the first time in a few weeks. So at least that has improved.

IrishMack's picture

thats where most of my pain is, from incline benchpresses. Both shoulders feel like so much pain that its starting to affect my training and my everyday life. I stopped doing them and use a smith, but the pain wont go away.

Pale's picture

I would recommend staying away from the smith. Switch over to dumbbells. That damn smith does not let you complete a lift with your natural arch and I believe it leads to more injuries. My left shoulder has been pissed for a couple weeks but has really gotten worse the last few days. I bailed out of my chest/tri's work out early last night because of it. Funny I can do most of my shoulder work out with not much trouble. Shoulder presses are about the only shoulder move that is a no go right now.

IrishMack's picture

you might be on to something here.

Pale's picture

I haven't used the Smith in 7-8 months and this injury is the first one I have had since. And truth be told I don't think I did it lifting I think it happened playing Volleyball of all things. I really don't know for sure. I do know since incorporating dumbbells more heavily into my chest workouts I am stronger for it. When I do switch back to regular bench every few weeks I can still put up 315 even now off cycle. I don't try going beyond that anymore, not worth the risk.

irongame427's picture

Only thing that's even remotely helped my terrible joints is nandrolone. You could try a product called osteio biflex. It's a joint support supp that helped me a little bit. And just really warm up thoroughly. Take it nice and slow building up to your heavy sets.

IrishMack's picture

ill look into that. I tried low weights high rep but The weights feel like feathers lol. I also warm up. While im pushing the weights the pain goes away. once I start to rest it creeps back and cripples me.

IrishMack's picture

I definitely want something besides more aas lol because back on trt dose I want to do only that. I know someone mentioned tb500 but you bave to keep doing that or the pain bounces back.

IrishMack's picture

I sleep on my side and always wake up from pain so I move. I'll be damned if thats why

Coconut's picture

My ac joints flare up on occasion when I sleep on one side for to long. I usually always sleep on my side facing the middle of the bed so I just rotate sides I sleep on with my old lady ever 3 months.

irongame427's picture

I blew up when I stopped lifting heavy in the lower rep ranges and started using moderate weight with higher reps.
