Best Cardio for aiding Lifting sessions
ad
Since admittedly becoming a bit lazy and using the car more and walking less when going places I've really noticed my general fitness level decrease, I didn't realise just how much good it was doing me. Which led me on to wondering what everyone does when going to well equipped gyms with all the hill climbers & cycles etc.
What do people find the best form of cardio or exercise is to do that's generally around 10 to 20 mins that they find really benefits their weightlifting sessions?

Haha I know bro. It's no joke that's for sure
10-20 min I'll just throw a few extra sets in in or crank out ab work for 20min with no rest. Take only 30 sec breaks between sets and you will be sweating big time. I usually only take 40 sec breaks between sets for my entire workout. So that entire hour or so I am working out I am in the cardio or fat burning zone for my heart rate. My average heart rate during my workout sessions is around 128 bpm.
PcushionCycling if your really feeling froggy the stair master.
What does froggy mean mate - energized? lol
In my neck of the woods it means you are feeling hornier than a horny toad.
PcushionSorry forgot different locations. It’s used as Greg stated it’s also a term for energized.
feeling ambitious, or doing more than expected.
I'm going to start using that saying now and laugh at all the confused faces I get as I know damn well they won't know what on earth I'm talking about lol
RustyhookerFeelin froggy also can start off a fight. Someone talking trash.... you feelin froggy, come git some.
toss in a, "gettin jiggy wit it" and you'll be the hippest bro in the house.
AnonI wouldn't really count this as cardio but I like to use resistance bands and do rotator cuff strengthening exercises before training.
For example: internal rotations and external rotations for 3 sets of 10 no rests.
Left arm 10 internal rotations, right arm 10 internal rotations,
Left arm 10 external rotations, right arm 10 external rotations...
repeat until I've done 3 sets of 10 each.
That's 120 reps nonstop and it gets the blood pumping some.
Sometimes I just do 1 set of 12 each but I never take any rests between sets.
Serious throwing athletes and fighters tend to spend a lot of time using resistance bands doing exercises to target and strengthen tendons and stabilizer muscles.
jayiski use bands before and after workouts. for what you mentioned, stretching, mobility and pull aparts. Def. helps and is worth the time. Can be consider part of doing GPP.
What do you mean, "I don't support your system"?
I go to court when I have to
What do you mean, "I can't get to work on time"?
I got nothing better to do.
And, what do you mean, "I don't pay my bills"?
Why do you think I'm broke? Huh?
If there's a new way,
I'll be the first in line.
But it better work this time.
What do you mean, "I hurt your feelings"?
I didn't know you had any feelings.
What do you mean, "I ain't kind"?
Just not your kind.
**lyrics From Megadeath - Peace Sells
Anon"GPP" (General Physical Preparedness), yes exactly.
Dave was living in squalor and fed up with the world, not just while making that track but the whole album. He conveyed that attitude man. And that's a level of realness you don't get from many musicians.
jayiski dont know if you realize the impact that video for Peace Sells had. it was when MTV actually stilled played music videos. being a young, violent, anti-social, anti-authority teen that video was mind blowing. and the lyrics fit perfect.
thank god he got out of Metallica. Dave is reasonable for some great guitar players. Just think we may not have Slayer if it wasnt for Dave and Megadeath. Not claiming Dave is reasonable for making Kerry but who knows how things would have turned out.
Marty Freidman - What an insanely awesome guitarist. One of my all time favourites as a metal player myself - he made Countdown to Extinctions entire sound for me, nothing like it since.
AnonAwesome album. Marty in High Speed Dirt... holy shit, that's my attitude when going for broke.
StevebTake 5 to 10 grams of baking soda one hour before you lift weights and you'll be able to do more reps.
I've seen you say this before - does this really work?
StevebYes it's nothing new people have been doing this forever. It was more well known back in the day. It blocks lactic acid which allows you to do many more reps. Cardio sucks, baking soda is cheap.
I choose stair master and cross trainer over any other cardio machines or activities, really think these two are the best for bodybuilding. I do these all year around, even off season to make sure I don’t die under the squat bar on my 10rep ))
Depends on where I'm at. I do a hiit on the eliptical, speed and heavy bag, jump rope, and if a basketball court is available I'll jump in on a game.
Swimming. Low impact. Also builds excellent lung strength.

10 mins before or after training. Done
I mix it up but my favorite is burpee broad jumps then a farmers walk, every minute on the minute for 10 mins.
I don’t use body weight in each hand for that though. More like 50-65%
jayiskstriking a heavy bag is a great workout. wouldnt say ideal for a PL though.
pushing the Prowler does just fine.
HIIT and sprints. I'd hold at 10 mins, though, and monitor HR, with a 2 minute walking cool down...
I've gotta plan u can use...
A pair of boxing gloves and a punching bag bro , I try to get in 15-20 mins after every workout. Its damn good cardio, and it keeps my hands quick which can come in handy.
Definitely agree with you there bro, bag work is hard work.
Buy a skipping rope for £3 and give that a go Press. Kibby recommended it to me when I was training for a fight and I can’t recommend it enough.
Improves balance, increases stamina and endurance levels, skipping isn’t just for little girls. If it’s good enough for Tyson, Ali and money..
Yeah that's a Really good idea actually with the skipping rope - never thought of that one at all! I'll just have to make sure the neighbour is out underneath when I do it otherwise who's gonna wonder what the hell is going on Lol
It’s hard work to consistently skip for 5 minutes let alone 20. Probably a good idea to find somewhere outside mate ha
Achilles412This is actually great advice. Hit the bag for 4 rounds skip rope for 4 rounds 36 min total you’ll be gassed
It is important to reach a certain heart rate, depending on age.
My favourite is step machine
Stair master, and stationary bike. But of course everyone has their own favorite that work best for them!
The stairmaster is genius for pre-post Workout cardio i Think
Lately my two favorites have been the double ended speed bag and the rogue sled, I pull it with the 50' rope one way and then push it back the other. Both are good for a 150 pulse
Dead serious on this, fellas: The fucking DeskCycle. I’ve used it literally every day since the day I bought it almost two years ago and it still runs like a champ. I just put it in front of my couch, place heavy dumbbells in front of the unit to keep it in place, put something down for the sweat, and do an hour of fasted cardio as soon as I wake up every morning. It looks ridiculous, and you’d think it’d be a piece of shit at only like $150, but the thing has worked perfectly. I think I’m on setting 5 out of 8, and that’s more than enough resistance to provide all the cardio I need.
I am a firm believer in aerobic exercise every single day, regardless of body composition goals, if not just for heart health. Getting up an hour earlier to do fasted cardio is well worth it
What on earth has happened? ...
Achilles412Stair master. Fast walk on treadmill 10 incline.
Hey bud, are these 2 much more effective than say a stationary bike that I was thinking of buying and sticking in my weights room?
Achilles412Do you have room for a stair master? Personally I think that’s best cardio equipment. You could kick your ass on stationary bike if you chose too tho. I mean shoot get a dog it forces you to do cardio!
I love playing with a good Bitch but its dealing with her sh*t I can't put up with ....lol
Achilles412Yea but talk about a pussy magnet
I usually pick whatever stair climber, treadmill, or elliptical that has the hottest chick in yoga pants directly ahead. MOTIVATION!
Hahaha have you ever got a boner on the treadmill from using that method? Lmao
When you see me doing the stair climber with only one leg like captain morgan, you know whats up. Hahaha
RustyhookerIt points the way! Adds in bloodflow too!
Lol
RustyhookerStairs in anaerobic level, hiking
My personal preference is bike riding for HIT cardio and swimming, less impact on the joints than running and swimming breast stroke gives a great overall pump.
Stair master works great but I get bored too quickly.
Achilles412“Can he swim?” With a name like rock!?!?
