The scary part is from what I’ve read this morning, it’s saying all shipments. I’m assuming when they are firm with all, this will include medicinal products we receive from overseas? People will shit when they realize their heart medication needs a raw ingredient that comes from China.

I’m all for America First 101, but reality check … there’s no such thing as 100% American-made anymore. If it’s not the raw materials, it’s the precursors, the tech, the machinery, or the labor … global supply chains are woven too deep. You can’t play the game without your ‘enemies’ on the board. That’s the chess, like it or not.
Yeah people dont realize even with an "American made" car or something, there are thousands of components from all over the world. unless the entire supply chain was completely reworked there's just no way to build something like that 100% American. That would take years to do and would cause so many issues.
It’s exactly this, tech has advanced to where many products we depend on now simply are of materials not here in the U.S. Tech and medicine has gotten ahead of our independence.
Speaking of tech, it's not just phones and computers now. Cars are literally packed with modules, sensor and other tech. Houses, appliances watches, machinery, the list goes on. More and more things are getting chips/computers and tech these days. A lot of the manufacturing for that takes a lot of time and money to make so it's not just a matter of opening up a factory to make it. You need massive amounts of investments of time and money to get the right equipment plus the power require and infrastructure to even start to manufacture it here.

Every manufacturer has been preparing for months so it shouldnt effect anything any time soon. If they wasnt smart enough to prepare then you dont want to buy from that person anyway. By time all prepared stock is depleted there will be a trade deal just like every tariff and trade deal since February that we projected and panicked for nothing about.
So basically 1. Set shipping limits so that US manufacturers won't be undercut by foreign manufacturers of cheap plastic Amazon shit 2. There are no US manufacturers of cheap plastic Amazon shit 3. Panic 4. Change Everything Back. Is that about right? Did I miss something?

With things like Pokémon, I get it. They mastered milking collector tendencies and consumerism without being so obnoxious, and they ACTUALLY provided real products like kickass games. But this shit and Primes and such, makes me want to grab any zoomer by his Mohawk curls, pull out his cross earring, snap his neck, and drink the Rad140 laden blood pouring out of his neck stump.

It’s a shame we’ve lost so much manufacturing over the years in exchange for higher profit margins for corporations and less jobs for the people of the US. It would probably take us 20 years to even catch up to the manufacturing capabilities of some other countries.
Costs would still be higher to manufacture here because people deserve a decent wage, regulations, etc but that can be offset by lower profit margins for these greedy ass corporations.
American companies and the American government should invest in its country and people. Just imagine the modern day genius’s that could advance this country more but were missing out on them because they never escape poverty. So many old manufacturing towns are now ghost towns.
I know there’s a lot of nuance to all of this but these are some of my general feelings.

Exactly, people view this as a bad thing but look at all the trade deals and companies we saved with this tariff thing in the last 6months. You have to fight fire with fire and thats what we are doing with the tariffs. 28 countries been charging us 25-50% tariffs for us to export to them and noone said a word in the last 10 years about it until one man used the word "tariff" and now its a swear word. Its just a bargaining chip guys. Now everyone is economy experts all of a sudden but cant even read the heading on a source page lol
People are ignorant of history. Before there was a federal income tax which was supposed to be temporary to fund the civil war, our federal government was funded by tariffs. People have become entirely too complacent. I love this great country, there’s no where I’d rather be, but greed and corruption has gone too far. There’s things in place for reasons I don’t understand, but they’re there for this country to function. Then there’s happening that serve no other purpose than to line bureaucrats pockets. There’s a lot happening right now that’s not sustainable.

Google shows an article by fox, Washington post, npr, and yahoo news. Seems some carriers and countries are suspending some shipments due to confusion over duties on packages worth less than $800 being that the de minimus exemption ends on august 29th. I’d wait and see if more outlets start reporting on it. Hopefully the current administration backtracks or at least pauses it as they have been with all this other tariff related shit.
How do we know which sources will be affected by it before our order?
Ranger3252Most srcs that have inventory now will be good to go. Just the panic of the unknown will cause a massive spending spree by the consumer. But, like every other tariff BS, they have put a pause on it last minute. Hopefully there’s same happens hear.
