Air bubble and pinning

The last few days I have been doing some looking around on the web after hearing about a technique where you leave about .3cc worth of air between the plunger and oil while shooting, to essentially push all the gear through and help disperse the oil in the muscle. I have found that a good amount of people practice and recommend this technique. Does anybody around here also do this. The only problem I would see with it is if you arnt aspirating and potentially shooting air into a vein, but if you aspirate and no blood, would you be good to go?

My opinion is to not do this. From a medical provider perspective Ive never heard of deliberately leaving or pushing air in a syringe nor is there any validity to the theory that the oil will get "dispersed" from air behind it. If anything the air is going to mix into the gear and make little bubbles which will leak the oil out of the muscle. Also, added air injected can seep and collect into your subcutaneous tissue under the skin and could create a dead space which is a potential for infection.

I can just tell you from a healthcare professional standpoint that it will not hurt you. It's takes a lot of air anywhere from 10-15cc's going directly into the venous system to be a problem, the solution for a big air embolus then is to lie on your left side. This forces the air in your venous system to travel to the top of your right atrium where it is absorbed and dispersed again. So the short answer to your question is no it won't hurt for a small amount of air to be in the syringe when u pin.

One time my dumbass forgot to push any of the air out. I stuck it in my glute and was pushing and was wondering why the hell it was being so resistant then it went. I had a air bubble on top of my tail bone for a long time. It was crazy. A little air isn't bad.

ive done this for a few years. i realized after i started doing this i was wasting about 1cc per 10ml bottle before i did this. doesnt sound like much but in the scheme of things i was wasting a few bottles a year which adds up quick to lost $$

IMO I think it's not a good idea. To be honest (we) do not need every single drop of aas. A drop or two is insignificant.

This week alone I tossed a tren, two masterone and some clen. Just because I didn't like the color of the oil and felt like air got in. If you draw a little air it take 5 secs to tap the syringe and get it out. Why risk an infection

Not necessarily on subject here. But sometimes when I'm drawing from the vial.... There's a bunch of tiny air bubbles coming from the entry point into the vial.... Is that bad? From improper drawing technique?

Noweakace got that correct it's the air stabilizing. It's always a good idea to add the same amount of air that you will draw. (In my opinion. It's a standard)

It could also be that your punching to many holes on the rubber stopper. I always try to punch in the same hole or close to it

No. It's just air pressure stabilization, the same as if you pushed the air in before you drew out.

I understand bacteria is airborne aswell, so I do see how that could pose a problem. I just have only heard of infection from surface bacteria. I have seen doctors and nurses, one in this thread who say it is perfectly fine and that they practice it. I wonder if anyone could shed some light on this aswell. Thanks for the input brother

I've been a nurse for 13+ years and yes, it's ok to leave some air in the syringe and even to inject a little. Won't hurt you in the least Smile I do it with all of my shots to clear out the hub of the syringe and the needle.

Yea, I have read it is a go to method by a lot of doctors and nurses. But I am neither of the two, so figure id ask around. Thanks for the input

I give my wife a infusion (20ml of medication into a vein) very three days for the last seven to eight years. Have been trained in doing this. The blood will absorb a large amount of air, bubble, or bubbles and have seen this many times going through the infusion line. If you would see the amount of air you would shit. There would be a problem if there was no blood to absorb the air bubble

X2...it has to be about 20cc to create a toxic air embolus.

yup we were taught between 20cc and 30cc to create an air embolism so its a ridiculous amount of air to inject before there is even a concern.

Just aspirate properly and you will never have any problem! If you do not ..well.. it is on you when you fall on the floor.

First, air is potentially a problem, only if injected into a vein. It takes quite a large amount of air, directly into your vein to cause any potential damage. I've had an IV put in and the nurse didn't get any air out of the 6' line before she turned it in and it all went into my vein. My life flashed before my eyes and I thought for sure I was going to die. Obviously I didn't. I researched it after and it says that the air will get micronized by the heart and will dissipate in your system (unless it's a large amount).
As for intramuscular injections, you don't have these problems, but it's still a good idea to get rid of most of the bubbles and your mentioned technique is fine.

This is what i have always done, too, push out all the air. I might try leaving a small amount of air, but if its no good then i am gonna say something....

I'm familiar with the technique of leaving some air between the plunger and oil. The problem is you need to have the syringe pointed downward to keep the bubble in the correct position. I pin different muscle groups and from different angles and this doesn't always work. Otherwise, I think it's fine to do.
Also, I'm not that concerned about getting every last drop out of the syringe. I know pretty well how much is going in and that there is only a few mg left, which doesn't worry me in the least.

I think that would be the greatest complication with this method. I think the only way to pin certain areas this way would be to have someone else pin for you, whilst you are positioned right..

No bro. Keep the air out of the syringe. I'm sure Rusty is right that it takes a lot of air to do any damage, but nonetheless, I get rid of it all.

Yea, that's kind if why I posted this, it's seems some what unsafe, I just liked the idea behind it. I like what Greg recommended, seeing as no actually air is being injected

I always thought it took 20cc?? However, i could see how 3cc would cause some issues too.

Yea, it seems that a lot of people think a few small bubbles with take you out which isn't really the case, but like you said it takes a good amount, and I don't really see how someone could accidentally inject 3cc worth of air into a vein, but I guess you never really know with people these days

I do. I don't measure it as .3cc.

With the needle up, push the oil up until it is at the base of the barrel (no air in the barrel). Do not push beyond the barrel into the hub (tapered area between the barrel and needle).

Invert the syringe; the air in the hub floats to the top of the barrel.

Expel the air out of the needle by slowly pushing down on the plunger until a small drop of oil comes out of the end of the needle.

Flick the syringe with your finger to force any remaining air bubble out of the hub to the top of the barrel.

When you inject, the bubble of air in the barrel will replace the oil usually left in the hub and needle. None of it will be injected into your body.
