Acne

ad

I started taking steroids like 2 years ago and never had a problem while I was on them however when I done a pct and came off I got a load of acne and then when I got back on it just got worse. I’m on trt now and I’ve started accutane about 5 months ago the first 2 months I done 20mg and now I’m on 40mg but now some of the acne’s cleared from my arms and the back of my neck but my back has got loads of cystic acne and sometimes it looks like it’s clearing and then when I think it’s just about to clear it gets worse. Has anyone got any ideas on how to treat it and get rid of it for good?

Tanning. Salt scrub. Keep shirt dry n clean. Check your estrogen levels too. Some folks convert more.

Sadly, I think when it's hormone-driven, Accutane is the only choice you've got. Start low, like 20 mg ED, for a month. aka "the Hollywood dose". You'd be surprised how well it works.

It just seems like accutane isn’t working I’ve been on it for 5 months and it’s only got worse really.

I use head and shoulders, original, make sure it has the Pyrithione Zinc in it. I was dealing with gnarly upper arm and stomach acne and its cleared up nicely. Lather it up, and let it sit on your skin for a couple of mins before rinsing it off and scrub it in good. Best of luck, acne is a whore. Tanning bed could also be your friend if you dont live somewhere warm.

I’m not really meant to be in the sun due to being on accutane but I’ll give the head and shoulders a go

Best of luck dood, accutane is some rough stuff and I hope it takes care of your issues. Take care of yourself. Yeah they have a soap bar kind that's 2% zinc from a brand called Nobles if I'm not mistaken. Give that a go if the 1% in head n shoulders isn't strong enough. Be sparing with it depending on your skin sensitivity. Some people have reported their skin getting kinda dry. I have oily ass skin so it has never bothered me, just helped.

As a side note, if you don't already, try washing your bedding once a week and wear loose clothing. Hitting the sauna 4+ times a week at about 160F temps for 15 - 20 mins, and chugging a ton of water. Anything you can do to clear the pores out could potentially help but as always with this shit, your mileage may vary. Shower no less than 2 times a day, stay away from processed foods. These are things I implement that seem to help, or at least I think they do. I am a sucker for them little Uncrustables sammiches, and if I indulge in one of them I usually end up getting a few new bumps a couple days after.

Commenting here because I agree with all this. I also had bad acne first time I increase my test dosage from trt 125mg to 250mg. Everything was great until I went back down to trt dosage. Alternative shampoo that I used is nizoral dandruff shampoo. Same protocol as mentioned, apply few minutes before shower and rinse off. Also wanted to mention I was on accutane for 5 months for my cystic acne to clear up. Acne was formed on arms and shoulders. Make sure you take accutane with a high fat meal. I did 20mg daily with two slices of toast with butter and avocado oil drizzled on top. Last thing, I made sure to moisturize the areas with acne after showering.

Appreciate the info about taking accutane with a high fat meal I didn’t know that. I had some pretty rough cystic acne after my first cycle and tried to go the topical route , changing sheets, sleeping in a clean t shirt and nothing cleared it up. I was pretty nervous to add in accutane so I started low at 10mg EOD. Within a month the cystic acne started to die down and I kept up my skincare routine on top of it , which included using nizoral as a body wash. That stuff is awesome, I still to this day take 10mg eod and all my acne has cleared up other than a little bit of hyperpigmentation on my chest.
