+ 1 1st Anavar experience question
Alright, so picked up Anavar from a source on here. Today marks 1 week since I started using it...this is my first experience with gear. I'm taking 25 mg a day (half in the a.m. the other half in the pm). My diet is pretty much maintenance calories, but I shoot for 22% fat, 35% Protein, and the rest are carbs. I avoid sugar in all forms (except the occasional alcoholic bev).
Prior to this, I've been on TRT (Androgel) - about 200 mg per week. Along with HcG twice a week - total of 2,000 IU a week. And finally Arimidex estrogen blocker twice a week. My T levels have been stable around 700 for a couple years. Had a full lab about a week before starting, and all my levels were normal, except I've always had slightly high cholesterol (~220), which I'm fine with.
Anyway, the below screenshot is an InBody from my gym. I always do these measurements the same way to avoid variables. Same diet, same hydration, same time of day prior to a workout, no alcohol the day before and no cold meds. The 2nd to last InBody was a month ago...and I was a little bummed that my skeletal muscle mass was trickling down over time. But after only 1 week of Anavar, quite the change. I didn't expect to see anything for a few weeks. I'll be checking every week with the inBody.
My questions are these:
- Should I see this much change after 1 week? Do these results seem normal?
- Is it possible that my Anavar is something else?
- Is there a lab or something that can test a pill to see what it is?
Any other feedback? My goal was simply to gain a few lbs of mass and get a little leaner. Recomp of maybe +4 muscle and -4 fat.
Thanks in advance!

Anavar works in day one
100mgs in day 3 and im a shirt bigger but like iron game says it will trash cholesterol levels so its best too use cadarine and 2 cloves of raw garlic helps eliminate 10% cholesterol
You need to be careful with anavar since you already have high cholesterol. Anavar is going to completely trash your lipids. It’s going to raise your LDL significantly and tank your HDL. You should be in a supplement stack to counteract that as much as possible and should have started it before the Var.
What are you taking for liver support?
Inbody is completely inaccurate. You won’t be able to track small changes in body composition with it, like losing 4lbs of fat and gaining 4lbs of muscle. It can off as much as 10% in either direction. You either need to do a dexa scan, or at home you can use skin fold calipers. Progress pictures are really helpful. Take them every week or two in the same place, same lighting and same pose.
Right, I expected that with the lipids already. I'm doing the minimal side of dosing for Anavar because of all this.
For liver support I'm taking Krill oil and magnesium. I considered DHEA, but didn't get any yet. I'm also taking Thorne Elite multivitamin every day (am & pm). And finally, I add a scoop of Dr. Berg's electrolytes to my H20.
None of that shit helps your liver. Anavar is a methylated steroid to help it survive first pass metabolism through the liver. This makes it toxic to the liver. You really should be well researched into this stuff before putting it in your body and it’s obvious you’re not. These are powerful and harmful drugs.
You should be taking TUDCA, NAC and Milk thistle for liver protection. Red yeast rice, policansol, and niacin for lipids.
I thought I was well researched prior to starting, but this is the first I've read about TUDCA and NAC. But I'll jump on those ASAP. Thanks for your insight...it's super helpful!
Yes there are places that will test your gear (pills, liquid). If you look around the site you will see lots of janoshik testing having been done by members. It's not terrible expensive.
No way to tell without a test if your var is real and your screenshot didn't post. I've been on anavar for about 3.5 weeks, in a cut along with 200 test cyp and the pumps are huge, but otherwise is a very dry compound. My vascularity has improved and I'm able to crank out tough sets in a deficit. I wouldn't say I've gotten any bigger on anavar, but definitely more lean and cut. I started at 50mg/day and ended up cutting in half because I started getting Charlie horses in my calfs, lats and biceps.
Also a follow up question - my "plan" was to continue my TRT / HcG / Arimidex routine as usual, but just add in the Anavar for 6 weeks. At that point, I was going to stop Anavar and take Clomid for 4 weeks.
Does that sound adequate?
You dont need clomid. Thats only if your going to come off testosterone. You just drop the anavar and continue your trt protocol. Also add tudac and nac, or tudca and milk thistle for liver. Or you can add all 3. For lipids citrus bergamot, b3 (niacin) berberine, red yeast rice.
Clomid after a cycle is for guys who come off everything after the cycle, including test. Clomid helps restart natural test production after being shutdown on cycle. I assume you’re not planning on stopping TRT after the anavar so there’s no reason to take clomid. You simply stop taking anavar and continue on with TRT.
That's what I was thinking, but wasn't sure. I had read somewhere that someone stopped everything, including their TRT and started Clomid...but that seems like a weird move if you're already taking HcG.
So is there zero benefit to Clomid at all?
Also, does gaining 3 lbs of lean mass in the first week seem normal for 25mg of Anavar?
No, you’re not gaining 3lbs of lean muscle in the first week on anavar or any steroid. It doesn’t happen that fast. It’s probably just increased glycogen stores in the muscles. You’re probably not up 3lbs. Getting accurate weight readings is hard. Food and water intake, as well as timing when you weigh yourself can throw your weight off by a few pounds. First you need an accurate scale which is easier said than done. The medical beam scales are best. Then you should weigh yourself first thing in the morning after doing your business. That will give you the most accurate weight reading.
Clomid helps stimulate natural testosterone production. You don’t have any natural testosterone production since you’re on TRT, thus there’s no reason to take clomid. Most people cycle, so they take steroids for a set amount of time which shuts down natural test production and then they come off and do what’s called PCT. Clomid is a PCT drug which will help restart their natural production much faster than if you let the body do it naturally. So that’s the reason for taking it after. You’re not doing PCT right, you’re just continuing on with TRT after? So you’re not coming off so no benefit to taking clomid.
The only other reason to ever take clomid on TRT is to preserve fertility, like HCG. I assume that’s why you’re on HCG?
Yep, I do that. Super accurate scale at home, weigh in every morning after I take a leak..I watch it trend up or down based on many factors. I've been doing this for about 25 years...my diet is dialed in...I'm a CPT and nutrition / fitness is a huge interest. I can dial in my weight up or down by tweaking my caloric intake and macros. What I've noticed is that while I can put on a few lbs in a surplus, it's not mostly lean mass. I lift hard and eat right...and I'm in tune with what my body needs and does. Anyway, that's just my back story for why I decided to try Anavar.
Also, I'm in the medical field and I think impedance measurement devices like InBody are very accurate, but you're right that they are better used for seeing changes from one test to another, and not the overall "precision" of what your body fat & SMM is. So, I very carefully repeat the tests by removing variables, as i stated in my earlier message.
Good to know that it's possibly just the glycogen stores...but I feel a little more solid after only a week...and I think I look a bit leaner in the mid-section. But I'll trend this over time.
My main question wasn't about my test methods, though...I was just wondering if 25mg of Anavar could have that much of an impact after only a week. Sounds like my inbody scan could have been a fluke. I'll retest in a week and see if it changes back.
I was going to do PCT by adding Clomid for 4 weeks, but continue with TRT and HcG. HcG keeps my nuts (mostly) normal size and therefore my natural Test is probably still being made...just not nearly where I want it. Sounds like I can skip the Clomid...thanks for the solid info!
impedance measurement devices Like Inbody are not accurate at all if you’re even the Least bit in shape. They’re hardly even directionally accurate. If you’re the typical out of shape middle aged guy with 30% bodyfat then Inbody is likely directionally accurate and will show if you’re going in the right direction. But not if relatively lean with some decent physique development. And it’s not going to show slight changes in body comp that you’ll get on an anavar cycle.
To track your progress take weekly or biweekly progress pics to make comparisons. Same place, lighting, time of day and pose. Take measurements of your waist, stomach, quads, bis, calves, and if you have someone to help Chest and shoulders. This will tell you if you’re gaining muscle and losing fat. And you can also use skin fold calipers to better track bf. Or get a dexa scan before and after if you want to most accurate way to track your progress and see your true body composition.
