AAS use causing insomnia?

ad

As my karma suggests, I am new to this game fellas. Can anyone shed any light on why insomnia happens with use? I am running 500 mg test. E a week and. 5 mg arimidex EOD. I am on week 5 of my ten week plan. My stats are 36, 6'2 210 lbs with 12 percent body fat. Been working out for six years very regularly. Thanks for your reply in advance...

I pyramid on my cycle, so I start with, for example; .5 mg Test E for 3 weeks, 1 mg for 3 weeks, 1.5 mg for 4 weeks. Every time I increase my amount I experience insomnia for a few days around the third day after increase. I lie down tired at night but after an hour or so I become very responsive to external stimuli. It could be an air conditioner turning on outside that will wake me. I begin to feel my heart beat and notice it beating a bit higher than normal, I have sporadic muscle convulsions almost like an electrical jolt.

I'm awake every 1 hour like clock work, and once I get up I'm up for atleast a half hour before I can fall back asleep. I'm walkin around my bedroom and bathroom . I goto bed at 9pm and get up at 4am to lift and do cardio at 5am... So my sleep has been horrible since I started my cycle. If I had to bet I would say it's due to high BP, bec as soon as I lay in bed to try and sleep, I feel like I can feel my heartbeating a little hard/fast, keeps me up, drives me insane

It truly amazes me how some of us don't give a thought to pinning Tren then turn all homeopathic when we can't sleep and out BP skyrockets.

Time to join the CENSORED generation. Get some sleeeeeep. Not enough, add CENSORED as well - like I say - Superdrol doesn't bother some folk - but a CENSORED - OMG

Got's to sleep to grow . . . . . all my AAS sides management strategies have turned Rx over 15 years. My tolerance for AAS sides just keeps decreasing as I get older. Are CENSORED addicting? Can be, can be for some. Risk vs. reward thinking.

And as a recovered alcoholic, not one of those addicting meds has prompted me to want one drop of that which almost killed me. I was voted over and over again the least likely to get sober by one AA group after another. God works in mysterious ways. I'm sober, they are all still drinking.

If you've never had a life or death problem with either drugs or alcohol, what I just posted probably isn't going to register with you. But if you are like me, it will.

WTF is wrong with you ppl lately! Lets get something perfectly clear! This is a AAS site! We DO NOT post pics, discuss and we DAMN SURE DON'T RECOMMEND narcotics around here!

JoBa79's picture

I say recommend whatever your experience dictates. We are sharing our personal experiences here, why would you want to censor that? Are you assuming an AAS is somehow better than a "narcotic"? Little reminder....the're both illegal.

Sometimes AAS will stimulate the CNS.
Try some Melatonin before bed 3mg.

I do not know that much about steroid use, but I know a lot about potions for sleep. There are still sources available where you can get old school stuff that will put you in REM sleep like you have only dreamed <pun intended.

I would love to stay and chat about nap time all day, but I have to go "order gbl wheel cleaner" It is amazing how dirty your wheels can get driving the roads these days. The last thing I want to do is to lose sleep over dirty wheels.

Yes I'm on the same cycle and my sleep is also getting affected! The only GREAT sleep I've gotten lately is when using phenibut, but you have to be careful with the stuff...it's very addictive.

AAS will stimulate the central nervous system to some degree and cause some
people sleep issues.

Androgens are notorious for causing sleep disturbances regardless of estrogen/prolactin levels. Testosterone(and most Androgens) alter your sleep cycle! The stronger the Androgen, the worse the insomnia generally. Trenbolone, particularly the enanthate ester, is HORRID about this for me. Wake up every 2-4 goddamn hours. And I take a shitload of prescription sedatives every night too.

You're going to need to supplement with Melatonin or Valerian Root if it's a constant problem, but if you run long cycles the effect will somewhat subside with time. Still, it's not going to go away completely. Many (but not all) will experience some form of alteration of their sleeping patterns while on gear. It's just the name of the game man. I do not understand the scientific reasons behind this; low levels of testosterone are even more prone to cause poor sleep quality. It seems the body greatly prefers to maintain homeostasis for proper rest.

Great points bro.. I'm sure that since this is my first cycle that my system is probably in a state of shock somewhat..? It's at 4 wk mark of test E so it's hitting me hard now.. I'm no quitter though

I ran first cycle 18 months ago after 18 year lay off. It was exact cycle you are running and I had some insomnia as well. Just my opinion but I believe mine was due to high blood pressure. I confirmed I had high BP and increased my h2o and reduced sodium and it helped a lot. Once the BP came down I was able to sleep better.

NuclearMess's picture

I'm running first test only 500 mg wk. I took my bp an hour ago and it was 150/82...I just got a BP monitor is why I am a little late on taking it. Cause for concern?

indabasement's picture

150/82 is considered moderately elevated. Wouldn't necessitate doctor intervention but I would keep an eye on it. Its kind of hard to say also without knowing your BP off cycle. Have you had any mild headaches as well? You can reduce sodium intake and caffeine and that could help.

NuclearMess's picture

130/80 is off cycle. No headaches. What are your thoughts

indabasement's picture

No expert! But I was moderately elevated too and wasn't too worried. Like I said, minor adjustments helped it out. And once I came off it normalized.

NuclearMess's picture

I will try that.. Thanks

Interesting points.

NuclearMess's picture

Thanks for the needed information. You bring up a good argument..maybe more test in your system means your body thinks it doesn't need as much rest as you stated... For now I'll try benadryl.. Lol

miggymig's picture

Yea you might want to go down to every third day on Adex. But i sleep better when i run a test cycle

Gotcha.. Thanks for the needed information.. FR sent

Doss's picture

estrogen is most likely low. 0.5mg is the high range for adex, and eod is pretty frequent considering it has a 47hr halflife. here's more info on the AI's and symptoms of high/low estrogen

Pelon's picture

Isn't there a rebound with a dex?

Doss's picture

The potential is there for it, yes. It's going to be dose dependent.

Pelon's picture

So you think .5 e3d for adex is good?

Doss's picture

typically, i'd recommend a starting point of 0.25 e3d, and not tweaking the dose unless sides or bloodwork confirms it's needed.

Pelon's picture

Ill give it a shot. thanks

Thanks brother.. FR sent.. I need all the knowledge I can soak up!
