+ 2 Women, Prolactin and Orgasms
Question for the ladies....
Do any of you know much about prolactin as it effects orgasms for women? If yes, I would love to get your thoughts on this....
I've learned a lot bout it for men the past couple of years and when levels go very high it can cause anorgasmia (cannot orgasms, or difficulty in crossing the finish line). Libido can be sky high but orgasm can be high to achieve.
Anyway, I took a glance at this for women. Sometimes, depending on the menstrual cycle stage, women can find it harder to orgasm than at other stages. E.g. prolactin is lower and orgasms may be easier to achieve just before ovulation, during, just after, with very high sex drive. (week 2), Orgasms also easy to achieve. But into week 3 and built up by week 4, you have a higher prolactin level (up to period) and correspondingly, at least for some women, orgasms might take a little more work... idk, more foreplay or what have you.
Anyway... the reason I thought I would share this, is that having looked at it having already learned a lot about it in men and in particular male AAS users who end up with sky high prolactin, I then had reason to look at it for my Mrs. who was taking a certain SSRI med... her orgasms dried up, and low and behold the med can greatly increase prolactin (libido lowered a notch but orgasms very hard to achieve, even despite times of very high libido)...
This particular lady also had issues with birth control pill affecting libido. So this became a double whammy.
Anyways, just a thought... (only bloods can prove such a thing)... if you are on birth control your libido may be affected... if you take certain meds... your prolactin levels may rise and your ability to orgasm may be affected.... and even if it isnt crazy high, certain times of the month (week 3-4 of cycle) prolactin also rises naturally too anyway which may compound issues.
Managing prolactin (which is safe and shouldnt affect your cycle or fertility or fetuses etc.) may help you have boatloads more orgasms!

Hey there, I'm a bit late to the party, but maybe some of you are interested in this topic even now. I had the exact same question and I was recommended kegel exercises to help strengthen the pelvic muscles, that actually helps with orgasms a great deal. They are amazing even if you have no pains or problems, just for general health benefits. I have always had a problem with climaxing. My husband and I talked about this on a regular bases. He wants me to like/love sex but knows the problem. We decided that I would try test prop after looking into it. Now remember everyone is different! I don’t advise anybody to go out and do this. This is just my story. There is some study’s about how test effects a woman.
I took a lower dose for well over a month. It worked for me. I have been on anxiety medication for years now and that also makes your orgasm on a whole different level. One last things there are always side effects of everything it’s crazy how taking one medication I believe leads to other medications needed to treat what the first medication does to a person. It’s just all crazy!!

Nice topic. Hits close to home. My gf has been experiencing this. Her libido is very high (always high), but the orgasms vary. Sometimes she gets off 2-3x's eod, then the next week itll turn into a workout. This is actually something she has been wondering about. I'm going to start paying attention to her menstrual cycle and get her to get some blood taken soon. She hates needles but anyway. I know the thread has been overtaken by us guys and has gotten funny, but I really would be nice for some women to chime in. They already know how to manage us anyways.. lol
Slightly off topic but you mentioned SSRI's. My wife also started on an SSRI about 8 weeks ago. Her orgasms have been harder and harder to get and they arent as strong. Docs decided to treat her low T with Zoloft...go figure. We are going to do our own bloods this month to see if anything has changed.
yeah LOL ssri are notorious to have sexual sides, wellbutrin will counter the zoloft sides it has been effective when taken with zoloft to counter sex sides

Zoloft removed any libido I had left. It does this for most people that use it. It wont help her in that regard.
SSRI's are the devil man. Drs. are giving them, left right and center, to people for non-depression related issues like anxiety. It is crazy (pun intended). They work for a fraction of the population (but anyone with serious depression should definitely try) and the side effects and withdrawal symptoms are horrific.
I had to sign myself off zoloft as it made me suicidal, disappeared libido and made it impossible to blow a load. Desperate stuff.
Zoloft/sertraline was invented by the devil to rob men of their and their wives libido and ability to achieve orgasm. Fuck zoloft.

Yeah they are surly over prescribed. I have taken it in the past. Had severe anxiety. I felt it was circumstantial. I took it for about 40 days and the things in my head calmed down enough i could look at the problem . Then i could see it for what it was. Turned out i owed an amends. I worked through a solution. Then was able to wean my self off. I have always felt most of my trouble are self inflicted (of my own making) . And there is a solution to every problem

Pysch drugs are very dangerous and over prescribed. People dont realize what they are getting themselves into with these drugs.
Considering there is no blood test to determine depression. It is just a few basic questions from the DSM-V.
Which if you look at them anyone could at some point in their life be going through them.
No reason to get thrown on and kept on these neuro-toxins.
It should raise a red flag when your regular doctor..., and not a psychiatrist.., can prescribe them.
Psychiatrists can be worse though because the only way they stay in business is to put you on these drugs and keep you on them. And they usually add more drugs with it.

This is interesting. The thoughts that come to mind with something my wife and i have been experiencing is resless leg syndrom. Which is treated with cabargoline. Also the treatment for elevated prolactin. I have noticed on days when she cant orgasm her legs bother her at night. Same with me. I will have trouble or " loose it" on the same days i have trouble with my legs. The only way i can describe it is we get " The Fucking HibleGibles" and have to move constantly to get comfortable. This could be causing enough distraction to cause the inability to orgasm. May have nothing to do with each other
