It’s only because these are either drugs approved for sale on the US marketplace, or they are not, or they are controlled in which case the FDA steps out and lets DEA feel cool by destroying your product and sending a letter. In the first two, you could ship with a registration to do non-clinical, investigatory research on an approved product to “advance the scientific body of knowledge,” no questions asked but don’t even bother. If you’re importing an unapproved drug to the US marketplace, even if available elsewhere for Rx, you have to file a New Drug Application, Biologics License Application, or an Amended New Drug Application just like all the pharma companies would, so it’s all about a few dollars to the FDA and making sure imports are for research and not meant for human clinical trials to ultimately aim to sell your new drug, biologic, or generic into interstate commerce. Little guys like you using this isn’t their problem. As for drug enforcement, just save the gas driving around the block and use common sense. They ain’t looking for you. And if they were... Trust me, you ain’t guilty until you accept possession, and USPS employees aren’t ever allowed to be put in danger by doing “sting” deliveries like that; so if you have a cop-looking guy delivering your package who’s not familiar from among neighborhood carriers AND a few dozen swat and DEA cars around your block then fine, don’t accept the package. You’ll also be hallucinating because DEA doesn’t have resources like that. They save up for “PR busts” - nab a few high profile trafficking leaders in a short period, telegraph that shit all over the news as if it happens all the time, then 95% of who they arrested and the charges initially filed are quietly dropped for lack of any proof on all but a couple big timers, if that. You’re just not the focus of anybody - at best you get a letter from customs asking you to claim the property and contest their determination to seize it, or else do nothing and 30 or 60 days later they’ll destroy it under the assumption you had nothing to do with it. Usps barely started recording a shareable list of addresses associated with seizures and it’s still not in use at any point of inspection. You won’t even be recorded.
