+ 7 Roidsseek TD

ad

I approached Rudy a few weeks ago with a proposal in the hopes of obtaining a sponsorship from @roidsseek and to my surprise he kindly agreed! Really appreciative of this opportunity and I will not only be getting bloodwork done in 8 weeks but as the collection grows I will send off unopened vials for lab testing for transparency within our community.

I will be running both oils at 300mg per week, 50mg test prop daily bar Sundays and 100mg mast enan M/W/F. Proviron used 25mg am and 25mg pm. I will update here as to the smoothness/any pip from the oils as the first injection will be going in this evening.

This is a big boost to me personally and to have the backing of a sponsor will hold me accountable to properly knuckle down and achieve my goals. Need some tank top merch now Rudy! --

When I first joined Eroids 12-13 years ago, the promos consisted of “sponsorship”. Each season Eroids would host a competition. Users would join and sources would sponsor said competitors. In order to stay in, each contestant would have to post pics with a current newspaper to see results. At the end, the Eroids community would vote on the winner.

Pretty sure that happened.. I don’t think I made that up.

Wonder when did that change? @Greg

Greg's picture

That was the EBC. (Eroids bodybuilding contest) it was fun, but extremely difficult to put together and maintain... sponsors, rewards, judges etc. So it was discontinued.

Yes!! EBCs. Those were fun to follow… anyway

The problem with this question is the difference between a rep and someone sponsored. Especially an undeclared sponsor. What are the guard rails? What if sources started to create hundreds of "sponsors". Heck, you can see how much pressure they put on people involved in promos to get 5/5 reviews.

Should a sponsor declare themselves?
Should they get a tag?
Should someone need to be a pro to be allowed to be a sponsor?
Should reviews have a radio button adding a heading "promo" or "sponsored" review?
Should the sponsored even be allowed to review or, should the source get any ranking advantage from it?
What's the demarc between, rep and sponsored?

IMO, sponsorship can't be eroids centric and must be related to bodybuilding competitions. How that's presented here, tag, profile page, don't ask/don't tell, etc., is the question.

BFG's picture

Any kind of relationship other than Source -> Customer on a review website is fundamentally broken when you want legit, real customer reviews. Even Source -> Promo Winner is working against eroids mission.

sandman3698's picture

Definitely shouldn't be allowed to review the source. And I personally don't want to see sponsorships encouraged here. If they are found out or declare themselves then a barring from ever reviewing the source. I like the idea of a tag but would worry that it would eventually normalize it.

Greg's picture

It's not easy getting a pro tag, so maybe they can go hand in hand. That said, I'm not in disagreement with your take.

sandman3698's picture

I'd just really hate to see it normalized here. The board I originally came from was full of "reps" and it kinda brought down the whole experience.

randomdude's picture

That’s why I much prefer this board to those others. None of the rep and sponsorship bullshit constantly pushing their brand. Nothing seems genuine.

Greg's picture

Agreed. A man ought to speak for himself. A brand belongs on the herd, not the man. (Contrary to what John Dutton thinks)

sandman3698's picture

Its actually a little funny because the source that got in trouble for this, right before this, was a source on that board too, turned a user into a rep, (assuming he was paid in gear) and that dude became the most annoying motherfucker in that whole place. Pretty funny how shit goes sometimes.

We talking about zoot here?

sandman3698's picture

No, there was a source that got flagged for fake reviews, a guy just got banned for daily reviews for them and he mayve also been sponsored, within the last few days.

I agree that a sponsorship isn't particularly eroids centric due to the fact that the reviews of products could be questioned. I do also think that goes for promos too however, I feel as though our members here won't leave "bad" reviews for fear of not being allowed into future promos.

I personally would like to know if someone is sponsored or not because it allows us to take everything they say with a pinch of salt rather than not knowing they are affiliated with a source.

A tag could be useful for members to understand that certain members are tied to certain sources however even if it was a message at the end of their review saying something along the lines of "This source sponsored this review".

Maybe someone should already be at the Pro level to be sponsored on this site, that is a good idea.

Yeah I think that is a good idea where not only could the reviews be tagged that they are sponsored, but also tagged for Promo reviews too.

I can understand after one of @sandman3698 messages saying that the source could choose to send out their legit products to the sponsored athlete that reviews could be brought into disrepute, so maybe ranking shouldn't be affected but leaving reviews with a "sponsored" tag at least allows members to make up their own mind if they want to make a purchase with the source.

Pretty sure it’s against the rules to have a sponsorship.

In a promo × 2
liverpool_96's picture

can't see that anywhere in the Rules and Guidelines post, and it's not too dissimilar to being invited into a promo.

In a promo × 1
Greg's picture

You will be short lived. It's a rule for the source. How the hell can we trust you now? You are no longer an independent reviewer. You are paid for and bought. All your reviews from this point forward are bogus.

liverpool_96's picture

"How the hell" can you trust people who get sent promo orders then? They are paid for and bought for going by that logic. If I post lab testing and bloodwork is that also bogus?

In a promo × 1
sandman3698's picture

A promo is a tester, a sponsor is more like an employee. I've been giving a certain source 5 stars for a few promos because I absolutely believed they deserved it, this current one, I'm going to have to give them a 3 for packaging because it was a little ridiculous. Now if they were sponsoring me and I was actually worried about pissing them off and losing my sponsorship, then I would probably just ignore that. I do agree that people are probably more inclined to give better than normal reviews for promo's, but I would have to bank on it being a sure thing for sponsored users.

In a promo × 2
liverpool_96's picture

That I can understand, however I'm not here to arse lick anyone and would call out any shit I see. Then again all you can go by is my word for that.

For @Greg to say it's a rule for the source, how are we as users of this site supposed to know that? I read the rules and guidelines and it didn't say anything for us. As for reducing my karma, that takes away from paid reviews I've already done, a bit weird like.

Can you describe for me what eroids is and what its mission statement might be articulated as?

sandman3698's picture

Yeah it should probably be laid out in the rules for us to see. If its not, dinging your karma for it seems a little rough. Breaking an unwritten rule....

@sandman3698

Can you describe for me what eroids is and what its mission statement might be articulated as?

sandman3698's picture

No I hear you. And * I * understand whats implied by it. Just think maybe a little dummie proofing wouldn't be a bad thing. And the fact that he came right out with the fact that he got a sponsorship instead of trying to hide it has got to show his heart was in the right place. Now I wasn't trying to advocate for nothing being done about it. But nuking his karma when he has real reviews in there just seemed a little rough to me, thats all.

In a promo × 2
Greg's picture

"Nuking" his karma is between he and I. you have no clue what my intentions are. And I never implied his intentions were less than honorable. Quiet the opposite. I quite clearly implied that he can be exploited.

The question wasn't rhetorical.

sandman3698's picture

Yeah thats fine man. I'm not coming at you hostile. Nor am I trying to put words in your mouth. I was just throwing an idea out there. And yes, it is between you and him. Thats why I said "to me it seemed", not "hey this is bullshit, you need to change it".
