Dkoon211I got an opossum a few months ago.
One time i set up a cage trap to catch the squirrels eating holes in my siding i wake up and its an opossum. I plug about 10 pointy oellets into it with my silent cat and as it dies it grabs onto the cage with all 4 claws. It took a 1/2hr trying to ungrasp that dead sucka from my trap. Next time it was a skunk. Couple pellets and it stunk but died. Fair to say, the squirrels won because i gave up trying to trap them.
I've caught two baby skunks at separate times. I just threw a piece of plastic over the cage and released them. If you throw something over the cage, they won't spray. I caught a baby raccoon and released it. That thing was vicious. I was trying to catch chipmunks.

I actually let the opossums live. Lol. They're the only marsupial in the US. This past summer we had a momma opossum with 3 babies. a momma raccoon with 5 babies and a momma skunk with 3 babies. We had the opossums come back for a couple of years before the raccoons and skunks showed up. We weren't seeing the opossums as much with the other animals there. The baby raccoons must have been messing with the momma skunk a couple of times and she sprayed them. The smell would wake me up because it was right near the air conditioner. It was bad. At some point the baby raccoons learned their lesson and they all were getting along.

The baby raccoons were fun to watch. One night, an opossum was on the mid rail of the deck eating bird seed out of the bird feeder. A baby raccoon came over underneath on the deck. The opossum faced it, showing it's teeth to keep it away. The raccoon climbed up to the top rail on the other side of the deck and walked around to the bird feeder. Above the opossum. It reached down and picked up the bird feeder, taking it away from the opossum and started eating the bird seed. It was pretty funny. Lol.

Yeah Hedgehogs are very cute, they literally live in hedges and gardens of peoples homes and come out at night. They are huge balls covered with spikes all over them, but have tiny legs. They try to cross roads but because they are so slow they get run over all the time at night. If you go over to one it literally rolls itself into a ball and all the spikes stick out so that humans and predators can't get to their body without being pricked.
I worked with a lady over 30 years ago that had a hedgehog. I never saw it but she liked to talk about it. Oh, and I like the Sonic movies. Lol
