Thats funny you say that - I didn't realise that my old mattress was a Firm rated one. When I tried the Medium in the showroom it felt great but a little different, but decided to go for it anyway. Once it was in the comfort of my own room and I tried actually sleeping on it, first few nights I was waking up continually as it felt SO different and a little softer. I began to worry I should of got the firm one instead so went back to the showroom and explained the situation - they then also showed me that trick putting a hard wooden board underneath it because my bed frame is just wooden slats running underneath which as you know makes the mattress softer.
They laid my mattress on a Divan bed where its hard all over underneath and it did actually make a subtle difference!! I was going to actually order one but after a few more nights I totally adjusted to how mine feels now so its still on the slats. They say it generally takes 5 nights for your body to adjust to the feeling of a new mattress anyway. I also realised that what felt so different about mine was the fact there was now a thick wool and latex topper on it which you sink into a little bit, where as the other never had that so when you turn over at first it can feel a little awkward. I'm a side sleeper so medium is supposed to be the perfect firmness - but if you sleep on your back then firm or medium firm is better.
