Kensington is a fucking mess. I used to go down there about 20 years ago during the day and do the street peddling of random crap and never felt unsafe even though it had a pretty bad reputation even back then and i was just some scrawny white kid with a bag full of candles or knife sets and a pocket full of cash. Now it's almost a hell on earth. Watching kids in their school uniforms going up and down the steps to the train station that are covered in used, dirty needles, empty wax baggies and frequently some tranq'd out asshat standing upright yet bent over so far his face is almost dragging on the ground is heartbreaking. It's no wonder so many of these kids turn out fucked up. Between no father in the home more often than not, seeing all this shit around you everyday so it seems normal and the shit show that is their school they're basically set up to fail.
I wont even drive through that area anymore when i visit the city. There's random gunshots and stabbings down there basically every day now. And the cops wont do a damn thing to try and help curb it all.
