Testosterone advice requested for newbie focused on mood, emotion and mental health?

ad

Hi all, new here, please be gentle.

I'm 45 years old and I am convinced I've had naturally low testosterone levels all my life. Never in my life have I felt anything other than faintly depressed and that life was a chore to be endured. Low mood and apathy dominated my existence. Even at age 18 I had no real drive to pursue things I was interested in, including the opposite sex.

I've decided to now try to do something about it and firstly will go private soon to get my testosterone levels checked. I know this is an important first step to find out my normal baseline.

If, as I suspect, they are significantly low I would probably look to buy something online to get my levels increased to something healthy. At this stage, I'm not focused on fitness or bodybuilding as such, I simply want to feel normal eg motivated, driven, libido good, interested in life and excited to be alive. Instead of as I am now, depressed, low mood, apathetic etc

What would be a good safe reliable product I could purchase and what might be a good safe low dosage to start off with?

All advice appreciated!

Is there some reason you can't actually go see a doctor. They will be able to determine if it is primary or secondary hypgogonadism. You could have some serious shit going on like tumors or certain diseases which affect the HPTA. You don't just prick your finger get a bloodtest then pin some test and the world is right again.

Seeing a doctor or at least getting labs will tell you how bad off you are and if that is indeed the issue. if its so low then the supplement route probably wont help you much. In the meantime id clean up your diet, drink water and moderate exercise can work wonders for mood and state of mind. I know that can be very difficult to do when your in a depression but sometimes you just have to get up and do it and youll never regret it. Whenever I'm depressed a don't want to shower, or clean the house, or workout and I force myself, I always am glad I did. As far as the supplements go there going to take a while to work and would work best with an optimal diet and lifestyle. You can look into Ashwaghanda, Tribulus, fenugreek and a few others

Thanks all, this was a lot of good calm advice, much appreciated. I have now ordered a home test basic kit to get things moving, i prick my finger and send it in. It should be enough to tell me if I have low T, and if so, I'll try the doctor route I'm thinking ;)

Start with Nebido from a doctors prescription. They say its a mercedess between testosterones and it doesn't require frequent pins. Or you might wanna start with a testosterone gells, just like I did. I wouldn't bypass a doctor if I were you, considering the fact that you have been diagnosed with a low T. Doc will tell you the basics and will help you find the good starting dose. Plus you will most likely get free blood testing every three months, because legal TRT must be under the doctors supervision and they must be doing that, assuming its the same worldwide...

Welcome to the forum, you will find members here with varied backgrounds of why and what we do. Not necessary to go into my background at this point, but I’ll say it’s different and similar to yours. There are great sources on here that provide very high quality products. After saying that, if you’re not looking for physical enhancement or performance gains, you’re seeking treatment for truly therapeutic reasons, if the lab results prove a hormonal imbalance of deficiency, why would you not find an endocrinologist or urologist to treat your needs? I’m trying to neither insult or assault you here, it’s a legitimate question. I had used a physician for a while, but they wanted to add things I was completely against, against to the point where I made the decision to self treat but have my primary care physician monitor my health. You need to be honest with yourself, not anyone else, why you’re motivated to make this decision. I wish you the best.

Well low T can be caused by a number of things. Diseases to poor diet to not being active to poor sleep to being overweight, etcetera. Much of which is controlled by lifestyle choices. There's some important information missing here. Testosterone wont fix the issue if you can't pinpoint what the issue is. Testosterone just plays a small factor. I'm not saying you do but if you get on T and still live a poor lifestyle, well you're just living a poor lifestyle on T.

"will go private soon to get my testosterone levels checked"
That will determine how bad it is and how aggressive to treat it. Post your lab numbers and come back and ask the same question when you have it.
