The only reason UPS and FedEx exist is because the post office was doing a fucking terrible job and had no competition or reason to do better. The post office sucked and would lose packages left and right.
The reason tracking numbers exists is because FedEx came up with them. Before that if your shit got lost it's like your package never existed it just disappeared. So thank the free market and companies like FedEx that forced the post office to try and keep up and do a better job.

Molinin302This is how we've gotten soft in the US, I remember years ago, Greece if I'm not mistaken. They made a move and raised the price of their postage by what what would equate to a few cents here. People mobbed together and burnt down the post offices. Needless to say the price of postage was lowered back down.
