AnonI had a random thought yesterday, what if the people of ancient Egypt were actually super geniuses but all the dumb people out fucked them and produced the population we have today?
That is the basic premise of the satirical movie Idiocracy.
Cough,.......... a recently busted source (CENSORED. com) made more per year than what this dog brought in.
It's supposed to be a cult movie. I thought that it was pretty lame - but I do believe that as a species we are dumbing down.
At less than half a million dollars worldwide, I'm guessing it's a real small cult.
Maybe 2 members,....... so if you're one of them, who's the other.

No sarcasm intended at all, just for the sake of discussion: what did you really like about it? Some bits were humourous - the gatorade stuff, his 'escape' from prison, the time-traveler woman being an 'artist', the very insulting treatment of Costco and Starbucks..and so forth .I just didn't think it was brilliant satire - but still agree with its fundamental premise.
What part of "I thought that it was pretty lame" do I have to explain more clearly? btw - cult movies are never determined by their box office takings. They are determined by their audience. Like Donny Darko? Fight Club? Rocky Horror Picture Show? All bombed.I guess that there are a lot of small and not so small cult movies. Etan Cohen, the screenwriter for that movie, issued an apology. He said he never expected it to be a documentary, and that the worst thing he thought could happen would be everyone wearing crocs.

No probs mate. Like I said, I thought that it was lame - I didn't think it was particularly cutting satire, or funny for that matter. Someone recommended it to me, calling it a 'classic,' so I watched it. Well, taste is personal. The Star Trek franchise has created a cult following, but I don't think it ever bombed at the box office in any of it's iterations. Anyway...moving right along.... :-)
The original star trek was cancelled after 3 seasons, for what ever reason, ..........
