Zma

Anyone tried using this consistently?

Just bought some and began taking it. I’ve found that it helps with sleep immensely! Deeper sleep, can fall asleep faster, and recover better.

According to https://naturaltestosteronepills.com/
"It is claimed to increase testosterone levels, but there is no evidence to suggest that this occurs in healthy men. Though men with zinc deficiencies can supplement zinc to fix their deficiency and increase their testosterone levels, there is no evidence to suggest this occurs in men with no deficiency."
It's waste of money as for me.

Gave me vivid dreams for the first week. Not much after that. Calcium blocks absorption, so avoid taking with milk or other multivitamins at the same time.

Interesting, it seems like the majority of folks aside from a couple didn’t notice much from it. I’ve used it before but it’s been 5+ years. I picked up a bottles worth and will report back in a week or two with results. Thanks for the feedback

Ive tried zma a few different times as ive alwsys had problems with my sleep and it never did shit for me ive tried some other supplement type sleep aids with the same results nada i found a chronic tincture at one of the herb stores where im from and knocks me right out and agree with irongame and others below creatine and bcaa only sups i think are worth a crap

ZMA doesn't helps me, I prefer 50-100mg zinc (chelate) and 400-600mg magnesium daily.
Vitamine B complex or only B12 I use always I.M. as injection, a lot more effective! (I use 1mg/month)
ZMA supplements are mostly very low dosed and including bad forms of zinc like citrate or oxide.

Yep i noticed the same right away, it was very noticeable... but a few weeks later I hardly noticed anything.... tried it again a few months later and nothing... like makwa said. I think it only really helps if your deficient in those minerals at the time...

Makwa's picture

I have big time sleep issues and gave this a shot but it didn't do anything for me. I could see it maybe being effective if your diet is deficient in one of those minerals/vitamins.

JARHEAD2's picture

I’m not sure it only helps with a deficiency, & it might be the opposite. If you were deficient in magnesium, then it would simply raise your levels from deficient. However, if your magnesium level is where it should be, then it would be the actual addition or surplus of magnesium that would have an effect. I believe they base the affects off of a normal level of each. That’s just my opinion though & it’s not worth 2 cents lol

Makwa's picture

That very well could be, but with a lot vitamins/minerals the body can only use so much and the rest just gets flushed out when you take a leak.

JARHEAD2's picture

Yeah you’re right! I don’t know how true it is, but I was told by a dr to take the vitamins at night so you’re not flushing them out constantly. It seems like when you wake up the next morning you’d still be flushing them out though.

Sulo's picture

if you do take vitamins/minerals before you sleep it would probably give you energy and cant sleep,
so take them in the morning with big breakfast.
and take liver support before you go to sleep because body repairs itself

JARHEAD2's picture

I do & it definitely helps me. The reason some aren’t effected the same way is sensitivity to the magnesium. Some people are not effected by it & others it knocks out. Valerian root is also very effective & I take them together as needed.

I will agree with @irongame427, the only supplement that is truly worth your money is creatine. All the rest is well planned marketing strategy and in most cases will be waste of money. From my own experience I can honestly say that this supplement did not have any effect on me or anyone I know.

Regards

creatine, glutamine and a good bcaa supplement are the only three "must haves" in my personal supplement range, the rest is, like you say, not neccessary!

In the past I’ve had some brands that I really noticed and some that didn’t work.

I haven't, honestly didn't think it would do much. I don't have a lot of faith in natural supplements other then creatine. Maybe I'll give it a shot. Sleep has always been a problem for me, so anything that can help is welcomend.

GrowMore's picture

It's zinc, magnesium and B6.

I can't say it helped me at all to be honest with you.
