+ 33 My before pic

ad

I want to post a before pic so everyone can see where I am at and am hoping to get support here. Please be kind as this is a big step for me to take to ask for help. My pain in the butt husband GettingBig pushed me to join because he said I could get a lot of help from all the awesome members for training and diet advice to reach my goals.

My introduction won't save so I will include it here

Hello Everyone. I am new to Eroids and thought it best to post a pic right off the bat to show everyone my starting point.
https://www.eroids.com/pics/my-before-pic
I am a 41 yr old Female who has lost her way yet again. This has been a lifelong journey for me and it is very discouraging. My first real weight loss was when I was 25 when I followed the WW diet plan. I lost 65 pounds in a little over a year and was able to maintain that weight loss for a little over 2 yrs however found the weight creeping back resulting in many years of unsuccessful diet ventures. As soon as I would begin to see results which is usually around the 15 pound weight loss mark, I would feel better but then sabotage all the hard work I put in. In early 2015, I was so depressed, felt horrible and was so unhappy with the way I looked that I was considering going in a drastic direction by having gastro bypass surgery to find out that I was not overweight enough, which in all honesty, I am glad about now as it is better to learn good eating habits and doing it on your own because the pride you feel when you have accomplished your goals is so much more rewarding. With that said, in Aug 2015, I decided to join a weight loss center program which cost me $3K but thought this was an investment in my health and took the plunge. My hubby was not very happy when I came home and told him I was spending this much money and was buying all their products but I reassured him I was going to stick with it and do it. YES, I did reach my goal with a total weight loss of 60 pounds which I achieved in March 2016 and felt amazing. AND yes, I had a big HA HA I TOLD YOU SO moment when I reached it. I dropped three pant sizes and for the first time that I can remember, looked forward to bathing suit shopping. Life happened and we had to move for employment reasons resulting in my no longer having the weight loss centers team to help me as there were no locations in the area in which I now resided. So, here we are, 15 months later, 45 pounds heavier and 2 pant sizes bigger. I threw all my BIG clothes away and my pride was broken when I had to tell my hubby that he was right, and had to go to the store and buy new BIG clothes. I have learned through the last diet that me and carbohydrates don't like each other which is hard being an Italian. When I was at the center, they had me taking several different types of supplements in addition to protein powdered drinks, puddings and soups as well as protein bars. There were three different supplement pills I took over this journey; one contained hoodia grodonii, ginseng, green tea, theobromine, banaba, bioperine, vanadyl sulfate, and chromium, the second contained guarana, zhishin, nutmeg, ginkgo and ginseng and the third contained citrus aurantium, garcinia cambogia, caffeine, green tea, gugulipids, metrabomine, tryosine, chromium and platinum minerals. Were they worth $155 per bottle? I don't know. Or was it that they had me on a very low calorie diet? I don't know if they were a part of the success of the weight loss but what I do know is that I would like to do this just with diet and exercise without feeling like I am starving myself and eating nothing but bland chicken and fish. I want to be able to lose the weight and keep it off forever. I want to get stronger and gain my confidence back. I know this was a very long post but it is my initial step and want you to understand my journey and what my goals are. I am looking for the best practice and know that what may work for some may not work for all but I am willing to take any and all advice you can provide me with as you all seem to have had much success on your journeys and who better to ask. I have found that through both weight loss programs, the key to success is the support from others. I look forward to this journey with you and hope I don't disappoint you or myself again.

I like people like you are. You do not want to look( be) perfect or fake, you are who you are-open and focused on your goals! Continue like that, I am sure the finish line is not far away.

Mrs Bigmurph's picture

Many thanks!! It's a daily journey and a learning process which I am working through. I have received some great advice here that I did not learn through my prior weight loss programs and am so very grateful. At the end of each week, I take pride in all the right choices I made and reevaluate the wrong ones and figure out why I made them to avoid making them again.

Welcome to Eroids!! That is very hard to put yourself out there like you are so you should be proud of yourself for doing so. There is a lot of support here along with amazing information at your fingertips. Stay active and update us on your progress! I'm willing to help along with many others if need be. You absolutely can achieve your goals it just takes hard work and dedication. When you want to give up at times push through and don't fall into the trap! Slow and steady wins the race. Believe me it would be nice if we had the results we wanted at the snap of our fingers but unfortunately it never happens but it is so rewarding seeing the results and where you came from in due time.Take a lot of pictures because at times you will feel as though you aren't making progress but in reality you are. I would also take measurements because sometimes the scale doesn't seem to move but your measurements will!! I would say good luck to you but it's not luck that will get you there it's hard work! I look forward to watching your journey!!

Little steps, focus on a goal that's attainable then make it a little tougher. Don't see failure as a negative, it's something to learn from.

Think grrl below sums it up great, that's it's a lifestyle change as opposed to a diet which can very easily be dropped. Best of luck with your journey Smile

Mrs Bigmurph's picture

Yes she certainly did. I have to keep reminding myself that so I don't quit. You are right, with every failure we take something away and learn from it. Thank you very much for the well wishes!

Welcome! I agree with kodiakgrrl that making it a lifestyle change vs diet is key.... for me, who loves loves good bad food, giving myself a cheat meal each week is so important and once you start lifting and building muscle its amazing how much more fat your body burns. I have a drawer full of 1450-1500 cal menu's that are easy to follow and very simple from when I worked with a nutricianist that I'd be more than happy to share. Good luck in your journey!

Mrs Bigmurph's picture

Thank you. So glad to be here. I have to change my mindset because it does make sense and the reason I have failed so many times. Yes, if you could share the menu's that would be awesome! I get stuck trying to make up meals and get stuck in a rut by eating the same things which gets very boring. I am sending a FR.

Mandi's picture

Excepted... Smile

kodiakGRRL's picture

think of this as a lifestyle change not a diet ... a diet is something that is awful and you drop it as soon as you can and go back to what you were doing before. I recommend starting by keeping a food diary for a week and write down everything that you eat/when you ate it and how you were feeling when you ate. if you can do that then we have a good basis for a starting point ... also, exercise, I recommend just walking at a moderate pace ... nothing crazy not high intensity shit.... just walking you'd be amazed at how much weight comes off with low to moderate intensity walking ... do it first thing in the morning before you eat if you can .... when you are ready and you've done the food diary we can get to the next steps ... all it requires is a decision to move forward .... I also want to acknowledge the courage it took to post up your picture and ask for help. good on you ;-)

Mrs Bigmurph's picture

Thanks a million! You are absolutely right about diets. That is the reason I have been unable to maintain the weight loss. I am not looking to get super skinny but to achieve a weight where I feel healthy and confident again. Buying bigger clothes is depressing when I have a closet full of smaller sizes. It's crazy! I actually made my first trip to the gym this morning as Hubby mentioned. I wanted to do some walking/jogging and he suggested the treadmill rather than outdoors. I wasn't a big fan of jogging on the treadmill so I plan to try the elliptical tomorrow morning. I do like walking on the treadmill and being able to check my heart rate. I worked out before eating breakfast as hubby told me I would get more results from a fasting workout. I didn't love the weight machines. I used two, focusing on my shoulders and chest. Tomorrow I will try the leg machines after I do my cardio. I am used to working out at home. I usually get some workout plans from pinterest and have some workout DVDs. I get bored and need a variety to keep going. I have been using the Fitness Pal app to track my foods and macros but will take your advise and write down the when and how. Thanks again for the advise and assistance Smile

kodiakGRRL's picture

that is awesome! remember a slow to moderate pace is all you need ... if your heart goes to high you move into aerobic and anaerobic states and you don't burn fat ..... the best thing you can do right now is to get moving and then make small alterations to what you are eating, one step at a time, and pretty soon all the small things will add up into one big change that you are absolutely gonna love.... do yourself a favor, ditch the scale if you have one and use your clothing to assess your progress.

Mrs Bigmurph's picture

OMG! Thank you so much. I was referring to what was posted on the treadmill for my heart beat rate which indicated 140-160 for fat burning and was staying in the 150s however I just researched how to figure out my fat burning zone and found that I should be aiming for 95-111 which is a huge difference. I have been making changes in my diet however the hardest thing is eating so much protein. I can't meet the grams/day as recommended which is becoming a challenge for me. Any suggestions?

kodiakGRRL's picture

I would focus more on switching out bad carbs for veges, salads, greens and THEN working on getting your protein intake up .... your main goal is fat loss and high levels of proteins aren't necessary .... just curious as to who is recommending and how many grams of protein per day?

Sorry I will let her tell you about it. Im just really happy for her.
Thanks

Welcome, and respect for posting a picture. Never easy. I would suggest looking into a low carb/ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting. Lots of info can be found via youtube with ketogenic diets. I would look into Dr. Berg and his playlists. Very informative and easy to understand. Best thing about this style of eating is you lose your hunger, so cravings cease to exist which makes eating in a caloric deficit easier.

Whichever plan you decide on, consistency is key and is the hardest part of it all. Good luck in your jourey!

Mrs Bigmurph's picture

Thank you for the welcome and the great pointers. I am all about hunger loss and cravings ceasing to exist. I will definitely check this out!

Welcome to the community Young Lady! I'm going to send you a FR! Feel free to message me anytime with any questions, concerns and some motivational commentary! I believe in you and if you've done it once you can do it again! Just tap into that mindset!
I'm not a big advocate of WW or any other dietary plan! Overrated and costly! Prep fresh meals and healthy at home!
I also don't believe in weight loss supplements, pills are not responsible for weight loss, a caloric deficit is!
The best of luck moving forward, you got this! +2 for asking and receiving! :))

Mrs Bigmurph's picture

Thank you very much. Working on staying positive. I know with hard work, I can accomplish anything. I have been prepping and purged my house of the wrong foods so there is no temptation. Day 3 of my new journey and going strong!

Hello. Thank you very much for those tips. I definitely need to add low cal fillers in because I get hungry around 8pm and am staying away from sweets. My original plan was to do 3 days cardio, 2 days weights but someone suggested I swap because building muscle will burn fat. I guess I'll try that and if I don't see results, I'll swap back. Do you think this will be a good start? My goal is to shed the weight and gain lean muscle. My diet plan is to consume 1400 cal, consisting of 40 P, 35 F, 35 C. Thankd
