Did you already pop the top off or was it fresh. How long do you think you've had it?

Gymjunkie01's picture

I poped the top off this one today I had three unopened ones .. Had it for about a year sitting on my self wanted to try it out and I was disgusted with what this filter caught .

If you're filtering multiple vials can you use one filter more than once or is it a one shot deal

fusebox's picture

I'll be looking for that pic tomorrow. Medlab will be busy following this up.

Fr sent. After talking with GJ I will be in need of your services.

Expect that filter to retain 2cc's of oil.. So if you're filling a 10ml bottle you'll only get about 8ml. Just a heads up

MedLabGear's picture

Rough estimate i'd say. I just ran through this with 10ml of grape seed oil into a 50ml vial and got 9.2ml after filtering. Not to mention how much was stuck to the inner walls because of all of the space. I think its well worth it in terms of self preservation.

Didn't loose very much

I think they are the same ones you got. They are defined as "10ml" but have a notch for 11 if you look.

If it stops bacteria, do you think that some hormone crystals might get trapped in the filter as well? I'm thinking about warming it ip a little bit to make sure everything is dissolved, or maybe I'm just overthinking it lol

MedLabGear's picture

You're definitely overthinking it lol. If you put it in context, during production your gear is filtered the same exact way. Sometimes you have to consider the vialing or mass production isn't being done in a clean environment which is where the issues come to light.

I have no clue about the brewing process and I didn't even think about it but it makes sense. Thanks for clarification

Gymjunkie01's picture

It will deff stop crystals but if you don't see shards you should be ok but you can hear it up if it makes you feel better

I like this idea a lot. I may have to join your venture here. I have access to a lab so I may try to culture the membranes and see what comes about.

XmadXscientist's picture

Are you going to culture them to see if anything grows?

MedLabGear's picture

You could in theory with a petri dish and a stain... alongside a $1500 microscope and incubator lol!

Gymjunkie01's picture

No just had some opened and older gear around I wanted to filter

Was this a domestic ugl?

Nice. I'm interested in this myself and it's seems dirt cheap cost as well to for filtering your own gear.

Keep us posted bro.
