+ 1 safe & sterile injection procedures

ad

Hy bro's just wanted to remind you to stay safe when injecting. I recently had a little infection develop on one of my injection sites. It became a little sore and red for a week. I don't know what did it exactly but I think the needle might have gotten dirty somehow. I think I touched it with a dirty hand. So after you mix that experience with other horror stories recently I am inspired me to write up on why to double check your own procedures.

1)First thing is first. Wash your hands and clear your area of all clutter.

2)I take a clean cotton ball with some alcohol dabbed on top, and swab the top of my vial, and then wipe sides and swab the injection site.

2)If I'm pinning the glute, I swab the whole cheek thoroughly just to be safe.

3)Then I give the area a chance to dry

4) note once I swab, bottle and site, I do not touch again until

5)Already having clean hands, I now dump a little alcohol into my hands, before touching sterile drawing pin,

6) Once drawn I change tip.

7) If your like me, you might want to feel the injection site before pinning, its automatic, we all do it and that's why I swab my hands and everything I touch

8)When your done if you want to stop dripping and make sure that the oil stays in you can use a clean cotton swab with a dab of alcohol to put a bit of pressure on the injection site to make sure that precious oils doesn't escape.

9)Always recap your needle, place it in a hard rigid walled container, and return to your local needle exchange.

10)Never reuse a needle. It's not worth it.

11) maybe this is too much for some but some stories I've heard, some bro's I know that end up in hospital, taking I, antibiotics and surgeries. You can lose a limb or even wind up in a box.

Is there anything I am missing here. I know this my current procedure. What is yours. Is there anything else we should know?

When cleaning the injection site, where you start you rotate out in a circle. This spreads any bacteria to the outer edge of the sterilized area.
