I have to ask- do ur legs balance out your upper body? I noticed they were covered up in your pics. If your legs can hold a decent muscle when you lean down then I say why the hell not? You may want to do a "practice prep" and see how you body responds to the process before you decide. When you lean down its easier to see what needs work etc... And dieting is hard! It doesn't work the same for everybody. A practice prep can give you some good experience with learning how your body diets. also it helps if you have access to a coach who has experience with females.
I'm also curious what division you were considering. Just looking at your pics I assumed physique..
That being said I agree with the others, you look great and have a lot of potential! Keep killin it!
What division were you considering? There is, of course, the physical part, am I symmetrical, do I have enough mass, ect. But I think the psychological part of competing is something to really take into consideration too. Am I at a good place in my life to compete? Can I be anti social and deal with being super hungry, tired, exashted and still do my day job? Can I get dead last and still love my body? Can my partner deal with all the stress that comes with competing? Can I afford it? Definitely have to be in a good spot with yourself and your life
TronI'm not a bodybuilder but hearing what you just said really gives me a feel for what you competitors go through. Especially the mental aspect. You do all that hard work and suffering only to stand if front of people judging you telling you if you're good enough.. that's rough.
It can be if you let it get to you! Competing can really mess with your head if you are not ready for it. And even getting to your peak and then realizing it was a peak, that you can't stay in that condition all the time, you just feel sub par in any condition other than that. Especially women.
How did we know when we were ready.... I wanted to and then I picked some local shows and then a large regional show ... I pretty much did the same for powerlifting and everything else I wanted to compete in .. picked a date and then got my ass in gear as far as eating, training, etc...
