Bro, with all due respect because this is working for you and because I believe you're on cycle? But the above diet is a recipe for bypass surgery. I say this because you're clogging up your arteries with plaque from all the saturated fats in all that beef. You're eating:
MEAL #2... 12 oz. 93% lean ground beef
MEAL #3... 12 ounces New York Strip steak
MEAL #5... 12 ounces New York Strip steak
MEAL #6... (Pre-cooked for sloppy joe's) 3 pounds of ground beef
There are an insane amount of saturated fats in all that beef. Just sayin' bro. I think you're better off replacing most of the beef on a daily basis with whey protein isolate with the equivalent grams of protein. Your heart will thank you.
There's a big difference between your run of the mill red meat, and LEAN red meats, and add in when sourced from my hippy farmers collective up here. Are you a Doctor? You also aren't familiar with my charts or my bloodwork or my HDL/LDL, so you shouldn't make a blanket statement assuming I'm "clogging my arteries". You are free to speculate, but it's misguided. I suppose I should have included the * informing the guys who have asked me to post my diet, that this, like most other things I do, is short-term. You also may be like many others who jump on the bandwagon of assuming red meat is bad and automatically clogs arteries - that's just not always the case. Also this is one day of my diet - I maximize my gains by changing the protein sources often, to get a broader amino profile.
I spend extra money to source grass-fed beef, I ONLY buy 90% and up LEAN meat, and I also take measures to protect my heart. Not to mention, I also slice out the marbled pieces of my steaks, and on the ground meats, I always press out the fats after cooking it. You might be surprised to find there is substantial difference in fat content even between standard 80/20 ground beef, and 90/10 ground beef. And again, I go the extra mile whenever possible and get the 93% lean. I'm picky on my sourcing, and it makes a huge difference. You should try it Denser! At first I too was skeptical when my trainer had my make the switch (I used to stick to ground turkey), but my gains have been truly incredible since following his adjustments.
Now:
I think the most alarming thing you said was that I should substitute whey protein for meat? Wow - do you have any idea how off-base that is? Supplements, no matter how high quality, are just that: SUPPLEMENTS. Supplements should never, NEVER take the place of whole food. You can easily spot the difference in physiques of someone who actually eats meals vs someone who mistakenly assumes a meal-replacement powder / protein shake constitutes a "meal".
Demonize red meat all you want brother, but you will make almost immediate gains / witness very quick differences in both your body composition and your performance in the gym once you substitute your shakes for meals. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess you are a tilapia / chicken breast kind of guy - and that's great man if that's your personal preference - but ditch the shakes man. They have only 2 real places in your day: immediately post-workout, and immediately before bed or in the middle of the night when you wake up to piss. It took me years to learn this, and once I did, I got it. Just like you hopefully will. Whole foods / solids over protein shakes. There is no comparison.
Could you try that for me? You're shorting yourself big time, especially if you're running gear, if you are using protein shakes over actual food. Give it a shot and you will see what I am talking about.
I respectfully challenge you to try for yourself eating more meals of LEAN red meats. It really does help. You should look into it and research these things, and hopefully actually try it for yourself before sounding off. Unless you're going for the John Basedow look. Then by all means stick to yogurt, tilapia, and protein shakes instead of actual muscle-building meals.
I actually agree with practically everything you wrote above. Here are the exceptions: I don't demonize red meat at all. I actually do as you regarding cutting out as much of the visible fat and only buying the leanest beef possible. I actually buy entire tenderloins and have them cut into 1.5" filet mignon steaks. I get about 16 - 18 nice lean steaks from one tenderloin. I keep about 6 in the fridge and freeze the rest. When I said whey protein 90% isolate, I'm not talking about a supplement one would buy at a GNC. I'm talking about nothing but the actual protein and whatever else from the milk cannot be extracted (thus the 90% isolate). I buy my whey in 25 pound bags here: http://www.bulkfoods.com/protain-powder-distributor/432-Whey-Protein-Iso... I do eat whole real food meals, although probably not enough. My problem is that I burn over 3000 calories per day, 6 days per week just from my job which makes it very difficult to get all those whole food meals in. This is why I have to take in a lot of whey. I've actually increased my intake since beginning my current cycle. I now take 40 grams of protein every hour. Either by whole food meals or by whey protein shakes which contain 2 scoops of the powder (40 grams of protein), 4 tablespoons of ground flax (I buy the seeds at Whole Foods and grind them myself - love my vitamixer!), and 3 tablespoons of MCT oil (basically coconut oil). So I do what I can. And I definitely agree that I feel better with fuller muscles when eating more beef and whole food meals than when I have a higher amount of my whey shakes.
All I was suggesting is that that amount of beef even as lean as it is still contains as a whole on a daily basis an excessive amount of saturated fats. These fats take years accumulate and to appear on tests. The fact that you change things up in your diet is fantastic. Variety is important.
And no, I'm not going for the John Basedow look. I got tired of that look. See my EBC 'before' pics, hahaha. I'm actually still cycling and will take your suggestion of adding more LEAN beef.
It's absolutely working for bro. You're looking beastly! And you have a very good handle on how to combat all that saturated fat. Balance is the key. Keep up the good work.
I don't bro - my trainer did it all for me and I've made my own adjustments to it - ironically it is a bulking diet BUT I have gotten leaner and more vascular on it, and my BF is steady at 11.9% - I weigh 278 and I only lift 4 days a week. But I train hard, lots of drop sets and super sets.
If you have any input or suggestions by all means fire away.
My trainer has me on a lot of red meat; steaks, etc - oh and on my off days there are no shakes..
IMO what has happened because you are doing a lot of drop sets and super sets you e increased the intensity of your workouts which on return burns more calories on the end. Cardio before? After? Or both?
I bet that's why your staying lean. I don't do any cardio either but I eat like fucking crazy! But cardio is going to have to start next week. Me and the stair stepper are going to be best fucking friends!:-/
+1 for the meal plans bro. You're clearly getting a huge benefit.

Here's a progress pic of me since really shifting my diet over to more red meats:

Do you have a macro count on this? Is this a bulk or lean mass diet?

LaTTTimer99Actually zero cardio - haven't done cardio for months. Which is fine with me lol!
At first this was craziness - but dude I swear within an hour of eating I'm already hungry again - my metabolism is firing HARD -
