+ 1 First cycle collagen/injury worry
ad
Hey fellas, so I'm about to place my first order and was initially going to run test e 500 mg a week, plus around 50 mg of test suspension ed. But...I'm starting to get worried about the collagen down-regulation of test. Am I going to be alright here? I know equipoise and anavar can help both collagen production and synthesis rate. Do I need to add one of them (probably eq if I had to)? Just trying to get everything ready to go...

Plus 1 for adding up the info before jumping in
A bit late but just wanted to add by 2 cents on the collagen issue, make sure you have included deload weeks in your routine as well, if you follow a program such as the cube or something then they should already be programmed into it. Many people have done fine on test only cycles, but again train smart and get the good nutrition/sleep and you should be grand. Later down the line and a cycle or two later, if you are looking at going into strongman then you could run a lot of EQ or NPP on the off season to improve your recovery.
RustyhookerHonest answer. I ran just test e alone the first few cycles. Figuring out food changes and lil tweaks to mske it better. Each time i grew. So as long as foids are good and your gym/sleep are correct you'll do well.
I wouldn't add suspension for this cycle.
Collagen. Muscles grow at double the rate of ligaments. On cycle i never go below 8 reps on any lift. I never max on cycle. Pump those muscles full. 8+ reps on any lift because you will get a LOT stronger. Drop sets etc keep the reps above 8 and definitly adds strength/mass. Keeping reps up helps joints. Warmups help. So does performing workouts of upper...lower...upper. That switch give shoulders a days rest so if its back or chest...you are fresh.
I wish I would have known about not maxing out and staying at 8a reps. I got alot stronger and went balls to the wall. I hurt my wrist. Then during pct I lost strength and injured my right pec trying to maintain as much weight as possible. So many little things to learn.
RustyhookerDefinitly good site. Everyone has lil bits that helps.
QtripsThanks man, that's very helpful. I'm a powerlifter, so I should not do a competition where I max in all three lifts then while on cycle? I'm definitely going to take your advice. Are deadlifts okay to do while on cycle at higher reps? I won't add suspension. Also, my workouts are 4 a week, two uppers and two lowers, usually with a strongman type exercise thrown in (keg carries, sledgerhammers hitting a tire, etc.) Would it be okay to do those or no?
1jakd_hipyDon't run the suspension unless you have a few meets under your belt and you know what to expect from one. I assume you're doing some form of the "Westside" split. So you're doing heavy lower one day, heavy upper, speed/rep lower, speed/rep upper. This sound close?
QtripsVery close. I'm doing the Cube. So yes, Max effort, then Rep, then Speed. Three days devoted to powerlifting then there is a bodybuilding day.
1jakd_hipyGood call. Westside is hard on us non "geared" lifters. You should still be doing Max Effort, I try to stay away from 1RM in favor of a 2 or 3 rep and save my 1 rep for meets. As long as you keep volume low on complex movements on max effort days you'll be fine. Hammer out you accessory work with lightweight and super high rep and you'll stay healthy. I like 45 SEC on 1min off. One last big thing for us is if you're body or mind are t where they should be for a true Max then don't do it and always take the 5lbs PR over the 10lbs injury
RustyhookerThanks jacked!!!! +1
1jakd_hipyThank you homie. Love talking shop but been so busy with school haven't really had time for shit else
QtripsOkay, so on ME workouts go heavy, but get 2 or 3 reps. On DE and RE days do what's prescribed and with effort since these are lower percentages of max. And for accessories after that, say olympic squats, instead of doing 4 sets of 6 and pausing in the hole, do 4 sets of 10 without the pause? The good thing is the Cube is pretty adaptable, so this shouldn't be to much to fix. Also, are strongman exercises okay? We usually do them for conditioning more than anything else.
1jakd_hipyStrongman type stuff is awesome for conditioning, and I think you've got the idea on the rest
Rustyhookerok...powerlifting is a bit different from the regular first timers. Your styles are different. Meaning, you're used to busting heavy heavy. Theres a good chunk of powerlifters on site that can be an asset to what you do. Click forums...powerlifting. 1jackedhippy, raw lifter and others are better on that. I'll send this link to a couple dudes as well but search jackedhippy etc. Get that direct one on one info.
QtripsThanks bro. Glad I found this board.
