Mussels for building muscles? Good or bad protein source ?

ad

I'm not really a big fan of chicken, but I can eat mussels like they're going out of style. I buy one particular brand of frozen mussels in tomato garlic sauce.

One Package contains 2 servings for a total of

220 calories. (80 from fat)
8 grams total fat
6 grams of saturated fat
60mg cholesterol
1000mg sodium
14 grams carbs
2 grams of sugar
22 grams of protein

I can easily eat 2 packs of mussels for 44 grams of protein and 28 grams of carbs.
It's hard for me to eat enough chicken to get that much protein at one sitting. However I can eat a couple of packs of mussels when I'm not even hungry since they're not as filling.

I guess my question is: Are mussels a good lean protein source to replace chicken with in my diet, or should I just struggle through my chicken dishes?

I think mussels on their own would be a better option. I think the sauce is whats jacking up the sodium. I love mussels and usually steam them in a white wine sauce with a little butter and fresh diced tomatoes.

Thanks bro, I'll give that a shot. I'll look for some low sodium recipes.

sodium is way to high... you eat two packages thats your daily sodium intake right there, tough it out with the chicken. I don't think its wrong ot eat them, but def not worth supplementing over chicken for. Plus it contains alot of fat.

That's the response I was afraid I would get. I knew the sodium was high, wasn't sure if the fat would be considered high. Thanks for the input brother.
