my secret to bigger and better traps

some guys have been asking about some traps so i thought i would just make a thread about it....if ya want to get some beef in your traps its a certain excercise on a certain machine.its takes heavy weight and in the 4-6 rep range and you need to increase the weight everytime ,each week, if you want them to grow,if your feeling down or tired dont go to the gym,relax ,eat,and sleep good that night and go tomorrow,your wasting your time if your not pushing that muscle group harder the next time,it wont grow,it doesnt have to if your not making it harder to move weight in a certain derection,derection is key..traps,,not up and down like the classic shoulder shrug,that works to a extent,but rather a movement(try to follow me)from your front lower waist area and a pull movement up and in.so,if you sitting down on a seat and you put your hand with a grip right above your side of your knee and you pull up and in towards your armpit,contracting and concentrating on your meat part of your traps,not the top of you traps,your traps run along the top but mostly down the middle of your back,thats were the depth and fullness comes from,shrugs only hit the top,not much thers only appears to be when you look at someone from the front,look at ronnie coelmans rear double bi pose and youll see what im talking about.so...the perfect machine for this movement is the hammer strength sitdown row machine,the one that has seperate arms you can move on at a time.most guys use this for their back overall but if you raise the seats as high as they go the handles are lower and they move upwards not just in but upwards,focus on pulling with your traps.i do one side at a time and knock out as much weight as i can in 6 reps sometimes 4.me personally when i was on tren i went up to 4 45 plates and a 25 each side and put a safetey collar on the end and i was only 160lbs at the time,i got full extention as far out as i could go and all the way up and in,i used my back and lats to start it off and then turned it over to the traps half way up the ride,well i hopes this helps and i would love to see you guys improve those traps,i know its hard for some of you guys,it might be the only thing lagging on you , i would love to see you reach that goal,i know i have my lagging parts we all do but its the journey not just a destination.

i just do barbell shrugs 2x a week with weight that will let me keep my form, I will do one warm up and 3 wrking sets that i can do at least 12-15 times, if i cant do 12 its too heavy, if i can do more then 15 its too light, and look at my pics i think i got pretty good traps... genetics?

i disagree about pushing it harder every time. its all about pump and feed, good suggestion on the workout tho

pushing harder,let me explain.that means next time you do back or traps TRY to get one extra rep out.or get a spotter to help.try to put 5-10lbs the next time,if not thats ok you tried i do my back 4 times a month and 12 times in a whole cycle,i want to make each time giving it all i got in that hour im in the gym.and this is only in regards to guys who ask me what i do to get the reults iv gotten in one cycle to my traps,if your goal is to increase the size of a lagging bodypart this is what it takes with proper diet also, pump and feel is good,but your muscles need more than a good feel and extra pump to grow,they need to be torn down actually ripped,the only way to do that is a forced rep,arnold in pumping iron said it best by saying the first sets in a excersise are just to build up to exhaustion to that last set and last forced reps were the muscle will forced into growth,again with proper diet thats were the actual growth happensdo you need to workout this way all the time??no theres a time and place for high rep low wieght,it depends on your goals,but for lagging traps, yes
