When to start using knee wraps?
ad
I recently started using wrist wraps after "popping" my wrist during DB pressing. When bend my hand back my wrist makes a popping sound and and flinches backward. The doc said it was common and that I might want to "give it a rest"... fat chance! haha. The wrist wraps work really well in supporting my wrist I find.
My question is, what are the point of knee wraps and when would you start using them? I would rather not wait until I pop my knee or something. Would they be used in a preventative measure?
Thanks!

Hey mate I am not a fan of them. They can actually do more harm than good. They can give you too much support. So your connective tissue isn't getting stronger with the muscle and you can create an imbalance. And at the end of the day you are getting assistance so your not actually moving the weight unassisted. Thats just my opinion on them though. i do know a lot of guys who swear by them.
Don't do often low reps unless you are power-lifter.
when i begin to do 6 reps and low i use it.i think all the bdbuilders must have this !!
I used them only when I was squatting with 160+ kg. In order to prevent any problems I always warm up and take glucosamine.
Wraps YES YES YES! Only use them when you need to though. I generally feel tension in my knees when I squat 140 kg upwards. For any previous sets I don't use straps.
Also use a belt too bro, last thing you want is your lower back going!
so if i try wraps could they help?
yeah bro i injured my left knee some how and im so bummed out, i love sqauts i got up
2 4 sets of 225 10 times each no wraps or belt. then i tried 275 lower reps and some tthing went wrong. now im down too 185 (off cycle) the whole time. gonna try heat ice and tiger balm, and glucosamine, really want to be all healed up before i start my nnext cycle. if any one has any other suggestions 4 healing , would appreciate it , good luck bro
If you can get it (health food shops etc), might want to try green lipped mussel extract. I believe helped me when I destroyed my left ACL & meniscus. Not cheap, but worth a pop IMO

never!..if your legs cant handle the weight then drop the weigth, knee wraps are not the answer to big lifts or to prevent kneee injury, the tight wraps can and will restrict blood flow which is not what you want. Most people wear wraps just cos they think it makes them look cool and experienced..watch the guys in the gym..knee wraps..loud shouts and then they proceed to squatt 100k lol.
I have been powerlifting for about 8 years and I mainly only use them if I do heavy triples or less. I rarely use them though. Mostly just when im getting close to a meet. If i get a good tight wrap i can get an additional 30+ lbs on my squat with just wraps.
1jakd_hipyIt's really relative to your strength if your working near your 2 rep max it isn't a bad idea to put them on, I really like mine their Inzer but there's no way I could wear them on more than 3 or 4 reps cause I wouldn't be able to feel my legs.
I love my knee wraps for heavy low rep work, I heard that with higher reps they can actually damage your knee though. I wrap the knee cap for low reps and if I feel like I need them for the higher reps, I will just wrap above and below the knee cap.
Good info man, thanks!
if you are power lifting with low reps maybe yes. but bad for blood flow
Yea bro it does prevent from hurting your knees, and i use them in every leg day,, it makes you focus more on your quads/hams when doing squats, leg presses,deadlifts,ect.... (imo i think everyone should use them on heavy leg days no
Matter wat Age)....thats my 2 cents my man.:D
