deadlifts shrugs and upright rows also do behind the back shrugs
g my traps are the same, i actually stopped doing trap exercises for awhile bc of the lack of growth. i still dont have a clue, but i noticed that lifting heavy and lifting light doesnt make a difference for me, so i just use moderate weight and go for the squeeze. i will have to try dbolz suggestion below as that would be a big shock on hitting my traps.
Heavy rack pull deadlift.
dbolzI had the same problem, here is what the vets suggested here. Whenever you touch a dumbell hit those traps. So say you are doing biceps curls hit the traps with the same dumbells, say the next day you are doing fly's hit them again etc. Tread-m suggested that to me and i can tell you my traps have trippled in size in the space of 9 months.
Thanks again tread-m
so are you saying that if your workout comprises primarily of db work to hit traps after every set like a superset? for chest i primarily use db's now as i recently changed my routine up.
Tread-M told me the same thing. It doesn't have to be just DBs shrug everything you pick up. DBs, Bars, Plates, Kids, dogs, cats, trashcans......LOL ;-P
chairs, benches, sandwiches, wd-40, frogs, mulch, pool skimmer...i think i got it now.
That ought to do it!
Try this superset routine. Hit the front lateral raises for 4 sets of 10, dumbell shoulder shrugs, then theres a machine I hit but I don't know exactly what its called but you can do it with dumbells too where you sit down and grab the handels with your elbows at your belly button levle and keep your locked in a forward position and parelel with the floor and move your arms in a motion like your trying to fly lol but slowely. Make sure you do a short pause at the top of each rep on each excersise and only hit the traps ONCE A WEEK otherwise you are overtraining and wont grow. Also make sure you are taking in enough calories, water, and are getting 8-9 hrs of sleep a night. Run this superset for 1 month then change it up again to keep your traps confused.
Try high rep barbell shrug pyramid sets.

Deadlifts and Farmer's carries. Leave the straps at home. Your forearms and traps will thank you.
