ARL 100 mls - filtering to 10 ml vials
ad
Has anyone ordered 100 mls jugs from ARL Russia?
I just got 2x 100 mls jugs from ARL, I wanna put the gear in 10 ml vials and filter it using a whatman filter.
Can anyone help me on how to do this properly and maintaining the sterility of the gear.
From what I understand, what I need to do is use a .45u whatman filter and simply transfer the oil into 10 ml vials.
Will whatman filter be enough to make sure the gear is clean?
thanks for your input!

thanks to all you guys!
If your planning on longer term storage, a N2 (nitrogen) cap to displace the O2 (oxygen) in the vial may help extend the storage life.
Oxidiation of the oil is the main limiting factor to storage life.
Frankieanother thing
dont use very large syringes like 50-100ml becasue the psi (preasure square inch) is just far too low and you will be there all day even with a chaulking gun it takes far too long and will frustrate the ball of you leading to many problems
keep the oil in the glass beaker nice and warm and work fast with a 5ml syringe drawing and filtering ,this will be alot better that useing the chauking gun methards as the oil in the lagrge 50-100ml syringe will cool very fast and becmoe a nightmere to filter this will lead you to put alot of preasure on the gun leading to the filter burting off the syringe and oil everywere and a total loss of half of your products
1-warm oil in a 100ml beaker
2-5ml syringe (high psi)
your good to go
thanks bro!
one last thing, can I use a .45u instead of .20, cause thats what I got.
Also, if I dont have a gas heater, what other solution do I have?
Frankie0.45 should be ok bro but i like 0.2 better but thats just me
you can use a ceramic top cooker ?
can pop it in a low heat oven (make sure its clean and free of any fat/grease/ect)
anything dry heat that will heat the oil to a nice warm point
if it comes to the crunch you can put boiling warter in a pan and sit your beaker in the warter but that would be my very last resort bro.
Frankiebut a 100ml glass beaker from a reserch site and 15-20 0.2um syringe filter ,you need to find out what carriers and solvents they have used as if they use eo you need a nylon type membrame filter as eo will degrade any other type of filter risking a none sterile filtered final product
pour the 100ml contents into the glass beaker
heat on a gas cooker flame for 30-45 seconds untill the oil is nice and warm (not hot/smokeing point ect)
draw 10ml a time into a 10ml syringe /attach the filter onto syringe and a 21g pin onto the filter and filter into the vials
i assume you will be useing already sealed sterile vials?
if so you need to put a venting pin the the rubber stopper while filtering in as this will release the preasure ..
How would you sterilize the beaker before pouring you gear into it?
Frankieyou dont need go bro ,as long as its not dirty once you start pouring and the oil hits it if will become unsterile anyway so pointless really
you can bake it in oven for 20 mins on 250 if you wish :-)
Bake it for that long with the oil in it? 250 f or c ? Thanks for the help bro
Thanks bro!

NastyNateWhat makes u think gear isn't clean already?
well, it came in a rosemary oil big bottle without any stopper or anything, no way I am injecting this before I filter it in some way, lol, I am not saying it's contaminated, I just want to make sure, you know, not take any chance...
NastyNateSmart idea..a whatman .20 would work better though, better filtration...make sure u get some GSO to run through the filter at the end so it flushes out the good stuff. Also get a chalk gun from hardware store to use with the syringe to push the syringe down cause doing it by hand gets pretty tiring after awhile.
Bro, what's GSO ? lol
NastyNateGrape seed oil
won't that change the potency mg per ml though?
I only order .45 filters, do you think it's still gonna work?
Also, can I use the same whatman filter to filter the whole bottle or I have to change it?
You only need a few ml of GSO post filtration. This is because the Whatman holds a few ml of oil which will contain the last of the gear. In order to make sore you don't lose any you push 2-3ml of oil through the Whatman when you're finished the transfer.
Actually I would use EO (ARL uses this anyway) instead of gso.
NastyNateI'll hand this overto Frankie, he's much more knowledgable than me in this arena..,I've only actually used whatmans once in my life.
Thank bro, have a good day!
