+ 1 My first competition 2011

ad

Competed middle weight, had to starve myself and slam MAJOR diuretics to make 175lb weight. That cost me, because I never could rebound after weigh in, came in VERY flat and small, but all in all, a great experience....a LOT of work for a extreme endomorph to get this lean! Sitting at 215lb now.....with some abs.

UPDATE: 2nd & 3rd are some photos from 1-2 weeks out, I was much fuller and thicker than day of show due to the story above.

Killer job! Anyone can pin, its this level of dedication that makes bodybuilding a great venue. I wish it was more publicized the amount of effort it takes to get in this kind of shape.

Thanks man. Totally agree!

Added a couple more photos from 1-2 weeks out from show. Hard to tell from the different shots but the fullness and thickness is way different. I looked better 1 week out than I did day of, for sure.

If you had to do over, what would you do differently? Much appreciated.

Look good, no homo.

I have 2 friends that are national level competitive BB'rs. One of them does not do the whole carb deplete, carb load, sodium, water etc. He get's shredded, takes 1-2 doses of over the counter water pills and steps on stage, has done very well. Another friend does all that I listed. Well friend#2 is who coached me for this show, so the last week was killer, sodium load, then sodium deplete, carb deplete, carb load, water drop, by the end of the week, I was flat as a pancake. I wish I could post a picture of what I looked like 1 week out.....I was HUGE, the biggest I've ever looked. My legs, delts, chest and arms were all WAY bigger than my on stage photo. If I had followed friend#1's advice, I probably would have stepped on stage looking huge and full. I would have been in the next weight bracket up, but I looked closer to a light heavy than a middleweight at 1 week out. When I do it again, I think I will follow friend#1's advice, I'll diet down, get shredded and ready at 2 weeks out, then coast to the show and take a heavy dose of water pills just to slightly dry me up. His theory is you have a better chance to win looking 98% of your best, than to risk it all (like I did) just to gain that extra 1-2%.

Many thanks. I'm hearing this often. Tough decision. Might see how I look two weeks out.
